Re: French (Marchall) Headlamps
Thanks, I can't wait for it to get dark to see how they work. The original headlights were like old Rayovac flashlights.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
They sure look bright in post # 5495 ! .
Yellow headlamps give far less glare and further out visibility but they're quasi illegal in Cali. ~ expect some tickets .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
In the photo they were bright, but not so much on the road. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the coppers. I've got the Cibie H4s ready just in case.

French Headlamps
Cool beans .
I loved my yellow H4 headlamps but got tired of tickets and so removed them . My then 18 year old Son put them in his Hot Rod and drove like a maniac and never got one ticket . Go figure .

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Knocked 45 years of grease off my 72 driver truck, and snugged up some gaskets. Dirty job, but I refuse to work under a grease pit, which was approaching 3/8" an inch in places. Greased everything up to the rear drive shaft, where I suppose either the U-joints or zerk fittings are wrong. It's not possible to put a grease gun on the zerk fittings. Can't say how to pull a drive shaft yet, but I will at some point.
The driver is having intermittent starting issues, so as part of a revamp, I tried to install a newer starter, which came off my restoration project. Both 402 trucks, so no problem right? Nope. While it may have worked, the hole in the flex cover on my 72 is taller. It doesn't appear cut, perhaps a replacement? Seems all flex covers would be the same, for BBC trucks anyway. The starter that was on there doesn't appear to check out for a 72 C20 either. All I know is it's a good Delco Remy 1109065 and fit. For what it's worth, the replacements call for the same starter, 71 C10 402 or 72 C20 402.

Tony, I think your story exemplifies why I haven't gotten into owning an older vehicle before. My previous trucks from this era were someone else's headache & I was naive.

For REALLY tight fits, you can use a needle attachment. Press it into the zerk fitting and it'll work. Might need a second set of hands.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Over the weekend, did the full ignition tune-up (points/condenser/cap/rotor/wires/plugs) and even replaced the coil.
Was driving to work yesterday morning, and about a block away from the office, the engine started running a bit rough, like I was getting a misfire. Made it to the office then back home. Frigging #4 spark plug wire came loose from the distributor cap.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Finished up the bumper. Have a 70 C10, wanted to do fog lights. Found a 72 bumper at a swap meet and went to work..... Added a lower valance, made some brackets for the led's and lenses. Then polished and cleared. The LED's have the option to be clear or amber to complete the "Stock" look.

I didn't even know anyone was making those. And now that I know they exist, I want one.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I have a NOS Smash-Hit grill guard, so I installed the outer towel bar to see how I'd like it. I snapped the photo and took it off. I think the grill guard would look better with fog and driving lights, although I think the slant nose looks best with nothing added.
