Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

Speaking of concerts....how about a non-concert? In 1955 a couple of us heard Jimmy Dean at Blair High School in Silver Spring MD.
We weren't out of junior high yet, but heard this "New Guy" and his country band were going to play on a Saturday afternoon. We didn't even know what a concert was back then.

So you were going to concerts before they were concerts? That's OG status right there, yeah?
JD was one of my favorites and their sausage is real good too!

Sausage and bacon! The voice-over in the ads on TV now sounds exactly like him too

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

I think one of my first concerts was at the Colorado State Fair. Ronnie Milsap or Toni Orlando and Dawn. Would have been with my parents cause I was just a kid.

Nice guy! I have a creeper, but if you look at my avatar, you can see the slope of my driveway. I use cardboard so that I don't skateboard into the street.

Don't know if this is real...probably not...but it caught my eye. Love the rear end treatment!

EDIT: not real. There are 100s of these renders out there all with very similar "treatment."

Fun to look at anyways.

I Hate AI...you have to look really closely at stuff on line nowadays to know if it's real or if it's memorex...You have to count people's fingers, look to see if they have lizard eyes or if all the parking lights on vehicle are all there....
What about Trade Mark on AI, using the Bow Tie, Blue Oval, Penta Star on AI creations......

That looks like fun! I’d like to fly in an open plane like that but those rides are expensive around here.

Re: Random Photos ‘You took’

.

Never ridden in the open like that but I've been up in several GA aircraft. What an experience that must be to fly a vintage biwing on a beautiful blue sky, white puffy cloud kind of day. Are those fuel lines?

Once long ago I was in the left seat, took off from Addison, flew to Denton and setup the approach for landing there but didn't take it all the way down. My buddy in the right seat got really nervous as it was his first time over there. We swapped seats in Denton as he was convinced it would be safer for us in an emergency if he was in the left one.

Another time he and I were in his Skylane 182 flying from Addison to OKC in the soup all the way from just after takeoff to breaking out of the clouds over the runway in OKC. Same thing on the way back. When I'm being honest, I recount that trip as rather scary. Totally at the mercy of the man at the controls constantly scanning the instrument panel and only occasionally doing anything else. At one point he got my attention and gestured out the windscreen to the 2 O'clock position. We were flying during the day and what he pointed out was a very large open cavern within the soup, a big slice of open space we were flying through between layers. How he noticed it is a mystery.

Later I came to understand it was very likely he was using the autopilot during our IMC flights. That didn't stop him from being very diligent as PIC to keep everybody safe though.

I haven't flown GA in quite some time. Your post has brought back some really happy memories of good times with a long lost good friend. Thank You.

-Kevin

Yep, there are four tanks in the top wing. As Juan puts it, "a simple gravity feed system". He only uses the two inboard tanks during these short flights. I've been so lucky to have flown 3 times in this plane! Love the sound and smell when that round engine starts. Here is a link to Juan bringing home the Waco.
