GT -

I would definatly be intrested in seeing pics of the hoses. That is on my list as well. Thanks for doing the homework for the rest of us.

Re: mylow53 build

Is it cold in here or is it my AC????
it works! there's some wiring to be done. since the radiator fan need to always run when ever the ac is on. and i need to loop the ac compressor "on "wire thru a high pressure safety switch. the hoses as you can see are pretty small smaller than the heater hose. additionally Rick at fridgeie king in simi valley polished all the visible metal hose ends. and he actually welded up the access nipples to the firewall!!
nice work. Rick said he took a picture and is framing it for his work!

Can't wait to get to that stage on mine, looks really nice, good to find someone who cares about the details.

Re: mylow53 build

Very nice!!

The A/C hose looks to be the same size as the heater hose.
Here is where I ran my hoses, same side just a bit lower.

Re: mylow53 build

parked next to this original 54 long bed 1/2 ton at the local hardware store I always thought the extended beds were 3/4 ton but according to his door jam it's only good for 4800 pounds

GMC did make a long-bed 1/2-ton model but Chevrolet did not. It doesn't look like a long to me from the photos. The front and rear of the rear fenders look too close to the front and rear of the bed.

If that was a long bed wouldn't it have 3 stake pockets?? 2 in front of the fender and one behind??

If I recall correctly, When they went to the new box in '54 (flat tops) the quit using the third stake pocket.

Re: mylow53 build

I don't see the driver's side spare in the pictures. Two spares would not be original either but a nice custom touch.

Boy your truck looks low in the front on picture.

Looking good.
