Re : What did you do to your truck today!
You guys get so much done , it's inspiring .
I got the choke spring Flea-Bay links , thanx . My truck as always , runs O.K. for an old beat up piece of junk , I need to dip into the engine & swap out the cylinder head for the rebuilt one I have , maybe replace the piston rings , the pistons too if they're not good , replace the bad exhaust manifold , get & install a new choke thermostat , replace the failing aftermarket radio etc. , etc. Thing is I not only work slowly , I have serious physical limitations and , other vehicles are dead in the water so for now I just keep it full of oil and drive it.... The help and inspiration I get here , is priceless . Don , remember to ensure the ATF filler tube hole is Hospital clean and free of any overspray , don't use regular O-Ring , viton or other hydraulic fluid resistant is necessary else it'll soon begin to weep & wet the tranny. The yellow looks very nice indeed . I see you bought a High Torque starter , that's wise .

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
put the fuel tank and seat back in it, changed the oil, and started it for the first time in 4 years. Ran great. Stopped very badly (is it bad when you have trouble stopping going up a hill at barely above idle speed?). Ordered brake parts.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I guess you could say "trucks"
you know after a swap meet or car show you allways get the itch too do something test fitted the bb an t400 I really just wanted too see if my 69 camaro headers would fit..... so far I think they fit great......but I wanna use a manual trans also helped an guided the kid on getting his timing chain replaced. its a lil' sloppy but I've seen worse. at least no nylon teeth were missing.theres a cloyes double roller going in its place.I wish it would stay as nice as it was today that would make it go a lil' better since its being done outside

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Nate glad you got the choke ordered, i really did not need to change my starter i had to , the old one bolted to the bell housing and with the auto trans it has to bolt to the motor, so that's why i got it...my son should be here Monday morning and we will start the auto trans project....i painted before i put the new seals in so i hope everything stays dry.....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I may be doing this soon. What type of difference did you notice? Did you pull old one out and Stab new one in with rotor pointing same way to match old one? Thanks

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Replaced the old oil pressure senor. This one keeps the motor running as long as there is 5lbs of oil pressure to it.
It was leaking so I took it out. Have no idea why it was leaking though. Here is the new one.

I checked the timing location with a light first, I couldn't find the timing specs on the truck anywhere, so figured it'd be close enough. Yes, all i did was pull the cap off the old distributer, took note where the rotor was pointing, and dropped the new one in at the same location. Once it was running, I just set the timing light up again and used the same number the old one was set at, +7 at idle. |

Re : What did you do to your truck today!
My 60's tranny cross member is bolted ~ I guess the DPO changed it , I'm glad he had the hard job instead of me ! .
HEI , or at the very least a Pertronix Ignitor breaker points is the smart thing for ALL older engines , you simply cannot imagine the improvement until you try it . I hope Myyamr7 remembered to open the spark plugs up to at least .045" . Even breaker point ignitions need .035" . Oops ~ 'puter says re boot time .
