Re: mylow53 build
Greg your truck looks great. I had plans on going this year. I gave some bone marrow on Friday and couldn't walk...lol My uncle stopped by my house on his way back from Pismo. He said he saw a red 50's truck that blew his mind. I showed him a pic of your truck and it's the one. Now, I have to see it in person. Keep up the good work man.

Re: mylow53 build
i've uploaded some hi-rez photos of the truck at the show. most of the pictures of the paint have not been as good as looking at the truck in the sun, due to compression of the photos online. so i posted them to my personal site and you should be able to tell the difference of the red

Re: mylow53 build
Greg, I looked through your thread but didn't see where you installed the rear fender tubs. Did you bolt them in or weld them? We are getting close to decision time on the rear end stuff. I need to get the housing and axles narrowed soon.

Re: mylow53 build
I plug welded them in then decided to replace the bed sides and had the body shop re install them. I think they plug welded them in as well. these are nice tubs but if you want to save some doe user the trailer fender trick there $20 bucks a peice vs %75 per...

Re: mylow53 build
Greg
Your truck is one of the nicest AD trucks I have seen in awhile, just the right mods and stance (right color too)... very well done. Your pictures remind me of the 53 delux my old man gave me when I was a kid. Problem was we never got it running and I had no money anyway..... Love the windows.... Do you ever make it over the hill to the Camarillo Cruise Night ??? I would love to see that thing in person. |

Greg
No one to call, just show up and enjoy leave when ever (they have some volunteers who sort of ogranize it but its very low stress).... Some guys show up early to get the better spots. Easy to just chill around ol town for awhile. Let me know I will come by and check it out, would love to see it in person.... |

So deserving. That truck is a stunner. Who says nice guys finish last LOL I will probably never have the resources to build one that nice. But it gives me inspiration!

Re: mylow53 build
I finally have the hood fitting correctly. it's only taken 3 hinges and maybe 6 attempts but it fits. Me and the boys went to the pomona swap meet and found some used hinges. The one i used had one of the pivot points rotating on the rivet. in other words the hinge was seized and the rivet was rotating. i welded the back of the rivet and freed up the pivot carefully. a little paint and first try it lines up just fine. the problem i had with my original hinge was the pivot was warn so much the spring pushed the hood up. then the re pop was incorrectly drilled the holes at the end of the arms were about a 1/8" to a 1/2" past the original hole placement.
