Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
Might be some disappointed 338 fans out there. Just decided I should check the new hub bore and compare it with my front hubs (assuming the 20x8.5 will have the same bore as the 20x10). Here are the results from my digital caliper:
New 338 hub bore on the front side of rim: 2.682" (68 mm)So it looks like even after all this waiting I'm still gonna get to do some grinding on the hubs to get the fronts to fit. That's really super-duper-uncool, even if it's only 2 mm all around. I thought these had been reworked to fit properly. (No, I haven't tried test-fitting yet. The chassis is still buried under a pile of parts from winter storage.) Brent

glad to hear you got them safely! Yeah, they do arrive pretty quickly once I'm notified they ship. And for the rest of you, you probably won't get tracking information for the simple reason of they are shipping from remote warehouses across the country, and by the time the tracking info gets entered into the system you guys will already have the wheels. |

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
Wow - I found this thread. Group buy, cheap, etc..
Then a page or so in, "prices had to be removed", "PM ____". I see tons of peol sying ":I want this or that size"...how'd they find the price. They all OMd you? Can you tell us? ...then it says "okay, the prices are back in the original thread about this". Linked to it, looked at the last few pages...nope. 20x10, 20x8, I think were available? CHROME. (now in the later post, you guys got the cart before the horse and got people fired up wanting chrome, then "sales rep says they are going to run colors, THEN all the chrome ones". Okay...happens...they lied. Then a "hiccup" in drop shipping is mentioned. Sounds like the wheel company pronised they do it, people got in line then they changed the game on you. Q=Is it going smoothly now, or...? Q=What is the MSRP on the wheels I mentioned? Q=What is the price you canget them for. Thanks. Simple. |

If you check the HID website that is listed on the first page you can see all the prices and all the options. Here is a link to it.

FWIW, the first two rounds of the group buy are done. There's a third, but it's open-ended with no specific order date. Sounds like you might be happier just buying 'em on eBay. Brent

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
yea the way I see it is sublvr is doing us a favor, he doesn't have to spenf all of his time trying to get these wheels fort us at such a good price so if you dont like how its working out then go to a wheel store and dont screw this up for the rest of us that apprecciate a good deal

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
To say Sublvr72 has done us a favor is a massive understatement. There's virtually nothing in it for him except a bunch of good karma and a lot of headaches and hassles that I'm sure he didn't anticipate when he volunteered for this.

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
That's correct, the bore changed but it still isn't enough to clear the larger rotor. The only options are to trim the rotor or use a small spacer. It's only a few mm off.

Whatever the case, I just ordered a pair of 1/4" spacers on eBay. At $17.95 shipped, then $1.44 instant cashback via Bing, it's cheaper and a lot less hassle than going to a machine shop, and on this project I'm not gonna just take a grinder to my hubs. If they work, great. If they don't, it's not like I invested a fortune in 'em. Until the chrome fronts start shipping it's not an issue anyway. (To be honest, if I had known that after all this waiting they still weren't going to fit right out of the box, I'm not sure I would have bothered with all this.)

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
Just very irritating that after all the hype and all the wait we STILL have to grind the hubs or use spacers. I don't get it. If everyone is happy to grind away, why didn't y'all do it six months ago instead of waiting for the revised rims?

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**
Because to my knowledge this group buy wasn't going on six months ago?
