Any type of oil works to take off pine pitch and it’s easier on the skin. I usually use olive or plain vegetable oil but since I was up in the back field I used the WD40

Yeah, it gets a little wobbly up that high.
I had to crawl in it 4 ft up today to hammer 2 speedo cable clamps in the floor while my wife held them in place with a weight underneath. It was really wobbly with me in there moving around and she was ready to run at any hint it was going to fall...

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Found the ticking in the 496 in the Chevelle . Not sure how it happened but the top of the Edelbrock aluminum valve cover has a depression in it just above the #6 intake valve very noticeable with a straight edge . At first I thought the stud was backing out but that’s wasn’t the case. Put new covers on it and it’s nice and quiet again

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I tore down the back seat for my '66 SS Chevelle to rebuild/cover it. Sent the bare, rusty frames out for blasting. I told them not to get to aggressive with them as they have a few thin areas. I said just get the scale off and leave a light rust if it looks like they will fall apart with more blasting. I'll spray them with a rust converter before building.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Fired up the out door gas grill and put some brats on for supper. First time it hasn't been too windy or too cold to enjoy outdoor grilling. Just the Mrs. and I, each had one brat and the other four went in the fridge for week day quick lunches. Some Bushes Baked beans, taco chips to go with the brats.

The grill is an oldie for sure. Was mounted to a post in-ground when we bought this place in '77. Used it up to the time we re-modeled and enlarged the house. Where the grill was mounted is our current family room with the FP.

Double aluminum gas grill which used to be sold thru the Gas Service Co. on a monthly installment plan payable with your gas bill. Removed the mount post, cleaned up and painted the grill and replaced the stainless cooking grills and the burners. Has cooked a LOT of brats, burgers, chicken, steaks, etc. thru the years since then. Mounted the post just outside of the deck rail so no lost room to the deck. A local BBQ equipment company said they are VERY hard to find now days and quite PRICEY to purchase.

Anyone else have one or remember them? Also had a gas light I removed but just never converted it over to electric with a photo cell.

Did not touch any vehicles yesterday or today. Spending quality time with our new dog. She is so sweet and gentle. She has to be touching you when he our sitting. My wifes potting shed/container has become one heck of a dog house! She is very spooked by loud noises. She spent one month at the shelter. We are the first people to foster/adopt her. In 7 days we go from foster to adoption!

Fine-looking critter, congrats! Good on ya for giving her a home, enjoy every precious moment. Can relate as to fear of noises -- our old wolfdog was terrified of thunderstorms. Fourth of July was always a real bad time for him. Sirens were not so bad -- he responded with the most beautiful howl!

Yes. Back in the 60's many new homes in our area came with a gas grill on the patio. Aluminum housing holds up to the elements real well. I took one, gutted it, put a stainless mesh in the bottom, built a frame with wheels and it continued as our portable grill only with charcoal. We used that one for many years then handed it down to my kid.

Good looking dog(family member). Our dog doesn't like thunder or wind .She is a golden retriever/siberion husky mix and ways a little over 60 pounds but she can get real small to hide under furniture during a storm.

Good day for shop time. Mid 60s and lite breeze. Put brakes on wife's Yukon. 5th wheel hitch back in the crewcab, then the more important stuff. Sorted my tackle box and rods.

I took my Wife and Mother in law to breakfast, Then to the greenhouse and helped plant some flowers at the Mother in laws and back to the greenhouse for more flowers for my Wife , then mowed the front and backyard at our house. Also drug out luggage so we could pack tomorrow. Going to Scottsbluff, Mt Rushmore, Devils Tower and Crazy Horse for a few days.

Replaced all the A-arm suspension bushings on my Polaris Ranger. Half of them were crumbled into pieces.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

This has been my primary hobby this spring thus far. Clearing out the tree line at the new home site so the wife can see the pond from the front porch and kitchen/living room windows. This photo was a couple weeks ago and it looked like Isengard (for you Lord of the Rings fans) with all the brush pile fires I had going. Took advantage of the wet conditions to get it all burned up.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Started to clean and treat the frame . Wire brushed and a Muriatic acid soak , let it sit wet for about 20 minutes and rinsed with baking soda and water rinse definitely needs another soak but I’m really not going for show just want a good base for the topcoat .

How do the cab corners and rockers look rust wise? With the box off now is the time to fix them if needed.

Truck has no rust other than the usual wheel arch rot .
