I disagree. Few things in life are more exhilarating than trying to maneuver something with the nimbleness of a farm tractor into a tight spot while surrounded by show cars; owners of the cars nervously watching and on-lookers staring in awe as you frantically spin the wheel side-to-side as if you where driving a semi through an autocross slolem.

On a more serious note, I will never convert mine over to power anything. The lack of power anything, A/C and auto transmission helps ensure that my wife and my kids will never ask for the keys...

I'm still not sure if it want to do power steering guys, I'll think about. I haven't even driven the truck yet so I'll see how I like it without power. I'm definitely doing power brakes though.

Haha that is a good idea Ben. I find it kind of cool that lots of these trucks have power nothing.

And here it is with the new metal all welded in and ground smooth with some paint on it to protect against rain. This one took quite a while to finish despite of how small it is. I admit this one is not 100% perfect but it's still looks pretty good and since its behind the bed it isn't even visible

Started to assess the rust in the passenger cab corner. It is definitely worse than the drivers side. It has lots of bondo. But the bright side is that once the passenger cab corner/cab support is done the cab will be basically rust free other than one or two spots that I need to finish up

Thanks rian, Yep just gotta keep on banging away at it to get the job done. The rust repair has been a real challenge but you know what they say, "if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything".

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Today I'm moving lots of vehicles and parts around to make room for the donor truck coming tomorrow. I uncovered my seat and realized that I haven't shown you guys it yet. It's the original seat cover from 62, had a couple small rips and tears plus a couple broken springs but I repaired all that a while ago, but it's in pretty good shape for being 54 years old. I will eventually redo it with a new cover and foam but for now it's plenty fine.

Haha you guessed right bill. I had to move the truck into the garage to make room for the '78 donor truck. I used an old bucket upside down since the seat wasn't in the truck. Only got to drive it 30 feet but was still the first time driving it and was fun.

Re: A 15 year old's project. Rusty 62 stepside

Finished up my front bumper this evening, I previously got all of the bends out of it by using a torch and hammer and beating it for hours but it still wasn't perfect so today I applied a layer of fibreglass filler and sanded it smooth and got it bolted on, I'm pretty happy with the end product.

I also found this chrome badge at a garage sale that I may use on the truck. I will probably mount it on the front or rear bumper or maybe in the interior

Thanks Anthony, unfortunately I won't be getting much done on the truck in the next few weeks since its tightly packed away in the garage to make room for the '78 donor that will be here on Wednesday. I'll be spending most of my spare time stripping that Down.
