Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Built new exhaust tonight, super 44 mufflers 2 1/2" with 3" turndowns, sounds a bit louder than I thought it would but forgetting Hp makes noise, sure nice noise though. Lights up the 38.5" tires in 2wd without even trying.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Well, last night at 11:30 I was chasing a squeek..Sort of thud. I finally found it using a garden hose and a couple of extra arms and knees, shaking the truck.

It was coming from the gas tank area right around where the filler connects to the tank...at least that's what it sounded like. Since I'd just replaced the tank
(with a ton of "anti-squeek gaskets"), and the noise was *definitely* coming from a rub between the tank and cab, I looked, and looked, and looked. Took out
the sender to make sure there was no contact with the inside of the tank. Loosened the gas tank bolts, moved crap around.

Before I finally went to the trouble of pulling the tank, I climbed under with a 5/8" socket and checked the driver's side rear cab mount. The bolt turned
about a half a turn while I was giving it about 70-80 ft lbs.

That was the clack-clunk-squeek...Telegraphing itself up the cab and into the walls of the gas tank so clearly that I would have *sworn* it was a
tank/cab rubbing.

A fine day.

Here's the same bolt...but on the passeger's side. I better check that one, too.

I got real crazy with my truck today! Get this...I used it as a truck! Crazy I know, but some times you have to go outside the norm.

Post Re: Working Your Old Truck

Some don't , looking at the yards of perfect paint & shiny chrome , I see why not .

Me , I'll use it for work until I'm dead .

To - morrow morning I'll drive it to Lake Forest and interview another Body Shop , the guy says he'll be pleased to work on it , I hope I can afford it ~ I'd like to do a body off frame de rust and re paint complete , then I can stop worrying about the rust and concentrate on scratching up the new paint.... .

All the young guys here think it's waste , rebuilding it back to a base model , plain jane work truck with painted bumpers but that's what I want .

Most of the older guys and all the Mexicans , think it's a great idea , I help them with their old GM Trucks whenever I can .

Re: Working Your Old Truck

The bed of my truck is dented from decades of being a work truck, I'm not replacing the floor! I plan on rhino lining right over the dented floor

When I was looking for my project truck I wanted something just nice enough to drive, but not so nice that I would be scared to throw a motorcycle in. Of course when it comes time to make a dump run...... well, I'll just hook up the trailer for that one.

metal, that would just be all sorts of wrong to rhino line a wood bed.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Guys guess I just love my hotrod a little too much to use it like a truck. Thats what my 4x4 is for. This is strictly for show and go.
But I dont judge the guys who like stock. Our trucks have been hot since they came out and no matter what they will always be hot. So I say stock, modded a little, or full blown tricked out...they all look great.
