Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Got my new aluminum radiator installed and cleaned up a bit of grease and grime buildup while I had the fan / shroud off. Turned out great and works like a charm! Gave it a good wash and took some pictures last night of the closer-to-finished product (slowly but surely...). I'll get a few posted this evening.

Headliner 75% in. It's in, but needs final adjustments and cuts (slots)
for the trim.

Thanks to two Forum Members and a friend of of a Member (Tony G).

And thanks to all for getting the parts to me fast. I really appreciate it.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Finally got to the point of having to make a final decision on paint color!

Made my choice and left a substantial donation at the PPG store. Had to be mixed, matched and test sprayed for color, will get it tomorrow.

Now its time to pull my big boy shorts up and get busy!!!

Ground (-) to any good ground (-); and hot (+) to the wiper (always hot when the key's on) circuit.

Thanks: Just a question; (+) needs a fuse between the choke and wiper.

Right.

Listen to Nate. He's the real deal.

I, personally, like the wiper circuit because I wired it for an electric washer...I know the load, and I know where the fuse is.
Also, it fits with my placement (hiding) of the wiring and the exit point to the choke.

Listen to Nate, though. A separate circuit is always the best answer.

Post Re: Electrical Accessories

Really , you should runa new wire from the unused accessory fuse in the fusebox to the choke heater ~ then use the lowest rated fuse you can that won't blow ~ probably a 10 A. one .

Every vehicle always has built in extra un used fuses for radios and other add ons , be smart and use them , do not overload the original wiring .

To properly set the choke , go out to the rig _early_ in the morning when it's cool out and the engine is stone cold , loosen the screws holding the choke element just until you can turn it by hand , open the throttle with one hand and whilst it's open , slowly turn the choke element until the choke butterfly *just* closes , DO NOT load it ! .

Now , snug up the choke screws and release the throttle & you're all done ! .

To cold start it , depress the throttle to the floor ONCE , release then crank it ~ never touch the throttle when operating the starter on a cold engine .

Where did you get that bracket that holds the two hoses together at the bottom of your picture? I'm trying to find something like that for my heater hoses coming out of the heater core

That's just a clamp. I don't remember where they came from...but it was off of E-Slay, for sure.

Here are some cool ones I just found on a "Google Search":

I replaced my oil diptube on my ls1. Old one broke in half at the "O" ring. I was lucky it didnt fall into the windage tray. $19 part 4 hours of labor...
then went for a nice drive around the lake Blowing my 140psi train horns at the people on the beach and playing frisbie golf.
FUN FUN FUN...

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Installing temperature gauge, I just want to make sure the engine is not overheating, I couldn't install it on the head because I don't have a 13/16 tool, I can't believe it.

Pd tomorrow fathers day I will work with the choke conection.
Happy Father's day tomorrow in advance
