Re: Daverods project 66

I think the only thing you need to worry about with an HEI is that you have a full 12 volts into the coil. Alot of the older cars and trucks had a resistor wire that dropped the voltage to like 9 volts.
You can run a new wire from your fuse block, and use a continual use solenoid to power the ignition, and that also makes it easy to make a kill switch you can hide for theft protection and or safety.
Also make sure to use high voltage plug wires, and resistor plugs, and increase your plug gap.

Re: Daverods project 66

Welded my dash onto the lip from the old dash. After getting the ends to fit good I welded the front back in. Also welded up the seams around the windshield. Drilled some holes for my vents. Ordered some side view mirrors from LMC. I got the round kind. Said 3 to 5 days. I've heard they're slow, we'll see. I guess today will be day 1. Kind worried about the way my gas line runs over the top of my valve cover. It's suppost to run around the front. LMC had a prebent one but it was $30. Going to see if I can find one somewhere.

Re: Daverods project 66

You could just get a length of steel line from your local auto parts and bend it yourself.

Re: Daverods project 66

Thanks Capt. Thats what I did came up 2" short though. It only cost $4.50 next time I'll buy one longer. Got my mirrors from LMC. The holes in my door don't line up right so I'll have to drill some new ones and weld some nuts on.

Ya that's right. It's been so long I forgot how to run my computer. Must be that short term memory lost I've heard so much about.

That be the kit. Now all I have to do is put it together. I can't wait. I can hear that frame hitting the concrete already, or was that the sound of my dog knocking my hood over?

I've been tinkering on my 55. I'm sitting here now trying to do a double flare on a fuel line. I've never done one. My first one didn't turn out so good.

It's a PITA. Depending on what the line is made out of. Seems like nothing looks as good as factory flares. Bottom line it must seal.

I'm not at a stand still. I have been sitting in a stand. Went hunting 30 days and did'nt shoot anything. Had a great time though. It's good to get back into the woods for awhile. Recharges the batts. Saw a lot of elk just not the right one. It's good to get back to my garage. It's even better when you have parts to work with.
