Nice car, it looks like it might be a driver and you keep it really clean.

I'd say if the truck is as nice as you say you could drive it out here to the rust belt and get all your money back and maybe more.

Not sure I'd be too hip on the gold color either, but without seeing the truck it strikes me as a great candidate for a patina look.

There is no way to match the block to the VIN. The only way to show the engine is original to the truck is if you have the original build sheet, which will list the number stamped on the engine pad.

Dude, that's a nice truck from what I can tell ... I now think it's worth more than $9K as is.

Living in the rustbelt, that truck is well worth it. If you need to sell, bring it over here we pay top dollar for stuff like that.

Uh, It's got disk brakes. And it's a 70. It has later model steel wheels on it. Am I right? Still looks like a very solid truck.

Yeah, you got us all thinking that this was a somewhat rough truck when, in fact, it looks like a real clean rust free survivor. I guess you are a real humble guy. I like that.

Humility is only one of my many many wonderful attributes.

Next time I get it out of the hanger I will take some pics. The box is sunrotted but it is in such GOOOOOD conditon underneath. Dirty but rock solid, no pitted rust areas anywhere/no bubbles.

Still trying to determine how many of these were actually made. If in fact 1% had tach's of 42,700 total that year, it seems like a rare one, especially with the short fleet and 400.

Longhorn is looking into if for me (mucho gracias amigo).

Sounds like a real keeper, just put some new wood in the bed, shine it all up best you can and blammo, you got yourself a real nice truck for a good price and not much effort. I say you did real good.

I have a feeling that your truck is truly a rare one. I haven't ever seen an original survivor like yours. Nice short bed small block and I-6 trucks as well as Long wheel base big block trucks are still pretty easy to find on ebay or truck trader.

The pics of the rocker looks to be all original paint. I hope you will post more photos of it from the sides, front and back. BTW, I assume the PO changed it over to 5 hole pattern? I really doubt that it would hurt the value much. You aren't going to try to put on pebble beach anytime soon right?

I THINK it is still 6 by 5.5. Curiosity has me now so I will go check tonight. Will see if I can get some more pics that are meaningful as well. Longhorn has me thinking there were only a few hundred of these things but I am still trying to get a better idea. If so, I can't really justify painging it a non-stock color. I know it won't affect value much if I change the color but it would seem to deserve a frame-off factory original restoration, given the nature of things. Too bad I hate DARK GOLD!

Re: I get screwed? 70 CST/10 400, Short Fleet?

You may be right about the hole pattern being a 6x5.5....kinda hard to tell by the photo.

I noticed your truck has the 8 400 badges under the cst/10. This is the same as mine was when I got it. I believe to be correct. Because that kinda bothered me, I actually traded mine for some 8 396 badges about 20 years ago. Me and some 67-72 enthusist used to go round and round about the whole 396/402 big block thing. Who cares I know I'm the third owner of mine so I know it has the orignal motor.

More pics please.

I found a similar ride with a little research. Of course its not an original with a 700r4. I really like the red!

Looks nice. I was more interested in an honest corner to fight from but I realize there isn't much value in it.

Funny: SPID says 396, emblem 400, production stats indicate 402. Even funnier is that it only pushes 310 hp. Mine is so docile I'd think it's a 6 cylinder if I heard it idle with my eyes closed.

i dont think that gm diferentiated wheather it was a 396 or a 402 on the spid. hence the 400 badges when no 400ci motor existed.
