His system involved counting all cylinders of internal combustion engines that you own and/or are in your household, including crate motors and spare blocks, generators, chainsaws, boats, etc.... The household rule was that you could ‘claim’ the cylinders of those living in the same house as long as you divided that total by half. His decree was that an acceptable CI is equal to or greater than your age.
Thanks for googling the origin...I thought it was a local guy, but wasn't sure...

I guess what it all means is those of us that have less than our age can use this tally as leverage in spousal persuasion, and those that have more need to keep their tally the hell away from their spouses!

I'm hoping my next 8 cylinders are in the form of a 71 K20

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count??

1984 Crew Cab 6
66 IH Scout 4
MM Tractors 16
Combine 6
Lawn Mowers 4
JD Gator 2

Total 38 I will be 30 in January

This does not include parts or any of the wifes stuff or trading material that I have on hand I would guess it would push near 100 or so with all that figured in. There are at least 5 or 6 spare motors sitting in the barn at my parents. I was looking at another truck so I guess I may just want ot hold off.

We live in the same house and drive the same trucks/cars, so I'm not sure why he didn't count mine.

Camaro 8
Yukon 8
Cutlass 8
Jimmy 8

Thats 32, add in the husq at 2 and weeder at 1 and I have 34 add in J's 78 and we have 112.

I do not pump gas unless needed, nor do I pay the taxes on the vehicles.. so Josh is 112 no matter what he tries to say.
