What's Your Cylinder Count??

I heard somewhere that you should always have at least as many cylinders as your age. My friends, those sound like words to live by!

I tallied up the cylinders in my petroleum powered machines today and figured I would see where you guys fall in. My count adds up exactly, and that just won't do! Hopefully Santa brings me more!!

What's your total? List your machines too if you can.

Here's mine: Age 30 - Cylinders = 30

'71 C-20 - 8
'05 Duramax - 8
'00 MB E430 - 8
JD Lawn Tractor - 1
JD Snowthrower - 1
Crapsman Snowthrower - 1
Weed Whipper - 1
Toro Mower - 1
Leaf Blower - 1

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count??

What if I don't feel like I run on all 8 everyday?

24 cylinders in my garage, so double that and you have my age

Do I feel half my age? Depends on what time of the day you ask me

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count??

I'm 26 years old and have 86 cylinders. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count??

I have 3 vehicles with V8's so that's 24 cylinders. To get my age in our trucks I'd need 4 more V8's and one of those 305 cubic inch V6's so it would total 62.

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count??

Fun!

8 cyl running cars x 4=32
8 cyl running boat x 1=8
4 cyl running car x 1=4
2 cyl running mower x 1 =2
1 cyl running mower/go cart/tiller x 6 =6
total=52

8 cyl non-running car x 1=8
8 cyl motor complete out of car x 2=16
8 cyl basically complete/builders x 5 at least =40
2 cyl basically complete x 1 =2
total=56

I'm 43 so on running stuff I am good. I have more not running than running so I'm not sure what that means. Probably that I have enough car junk to last me until I'm 108!

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count??

3 V8's, KTM 250, cub cadet, tiller, yardman, pressure washer(some punk stole my honda 350 quad). Id say I'm around 30 cylinders. If that number got as high as my age, I would have to move to a bigger facility...

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count??

hmmmm, lets see what I can come up with here...
burb 8
longhorn 8
Honda mini van 6
spare 454 8
brigs and stratton lawn mower 1
China pressure washer 1
china leaf blower 1
3 string trimmers 3
snap on Air compressor 2

Total of 38 not counting hydraulic stuff (2 engine hoists, 2 floor jacks, at least 6 bottle jacks port-a-power and probably more) and I am only 37... but only for a few more months.

While all of those engines do run... some don't hit on all cylinders.

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count??

Hmm its been a while since I last did this and stuff has arrived and some has gone.

67 Chevy C10 = 8
'01 Blazer = 6
08 Nissan x-trail = 4
Chainsaw =1
Mower = 1
spare mower engine = 1
small generator = 1
ride-on mower = 1

then in France

mower = 1
chainsaw = 1
Power scythe = 1
Ride-on mower = 2
line trimmer = 1

total = 29 at age 45 so not great but harder over here where cars tend to have less cylinders. Need to add a petrol line trimmer and hedge trimmer here and theres another ride-on coming soon.

Re: What's Your Cylinder Count??

I've considered that I have too many toys, but I've never considered the cylinder count before.

72 C-10 = 8
69 Chevelle = 8
05 Dodge Ram = 8
09 Pontiac G5 = 4
08 Pontiac Grand Prix = 6
00 Bayliner ski boat = 8
93 Yamaha Waveblaster = 2
94 Yamaha Waverunner = 2
00 Polaris Jetski = 2
07 John Deere = 1
lawn mower = 1

Looks like 50 cylinders and I'm 53.

Joining the fun:

C-10 8
Burb 8
Malibu 8
250 on engine stand 6
Lawn mower 1
Lawn mower 1
Chain saw 1

That's 33 for the stuff that runs. I could make it 49 if I threw in the two junk 350's I have sitting in my garage I'm 33, so I guess I'm doing good!
