Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Welcome to the Houston heat. Managed to get a few things done, like POR 15 the inside floor / firewall of the cab and the front half of the frame, front crossmember, trans crossmember. Also scored a cab/bed lift for $140 bucks off Craigslist, it made the job super easy.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Not much progress this past weekend. Releived the bed of the trim, did some more rust delete on the cab by the a/c vent hole and smothered it in POR15 also did the trans x-member. Checked on the progress of my engine, or lack thereof. Cleaned the shop up too........it needed it bad.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Got a little done this Fathers Day weekend, Happy Fathers Day Dads!!! Coated the whole bottom of the bed in POR 15 after a major washing and scrubbing. Let that dry over night and finished the bottom off with plenty of rubberized undercoating in the fenderwells and on the inside of the bedsides. Too bad I didn't take a pic of the final product, but half way through it looked great so I snaped a pic.

Thanks NuKe1. Your WAYYYY ahead of my little project!!!

Doh!!!! I ran my hoist into the driverside of my cab and dented it a little bit.........well a little skim coat will cure the problem. Oh yeah, the gas filler tube.........doing a little research on that right now, maybe through the taillight and hinge the light, that is the cleanest way.

Re: 1967 C10 Custom Big Window

Got a little accomplished this weekend. After a little filler and 6 hours worth of sanding (in 106 degree weather) my bodyman and I shot some sealer on the cab.....had a bottle of water.....then shot a light coat of K2 primer.....had another bottle of water....then shot another thick coat of the K2 primer....and had another bottle of water and some Gatorade. HOT AS HATES Gonna let that cure for a couple of days and get ready for some block sanding! I got word on my engine, finally, it's a no go on the 283....can't get any .125 pistons to make a 301......BUT...the guy that owns the shop felt bad that he has had my engine for 4 months just to give me bad news and offered me another 283 or.......327!!! Yep, it's gonna have a 327 now.

Great job!! Thanks for all the pics and updates. I'm interested in your fuel cell mounting. Why did you need to cut the cross member just on the passenger side?? Was it so you could wiggle it into place or was it not square?? Where do the fuel lines exit?? Looks like a really neat job!!

Thanks Prathbun! You have to cut only the passenger side since the crossmember forward of that is mounted at an angle, look at the pics and you can see the angle difference. In order for the fuel cell to not rub, this has to be done. I suppose you could mount it from the bottom, but the tank hangs pretty low as is and that helps the problem some. The fuel line exits the bottom rear of the tank by way of 90 degree elbow pointing toward the passenger side of the frame and then up to the fuel pump. I appreciate the compliments!! Feels good to be able to help with the pics and use this forum to help others who love their trucks!!
