Re: Bird watching...
hey brown i have a list for you of a ton of places with some stashes not far from you at all. maybe one day you can i can get together and ill take you to them. theres a bunch believe it or not right in the middle of bricktowna nd close to the ford center. theres a lot that has at least 9 old milk trucks and delivery trucks.
wdrthird your wife thinks your crazy cause she doesnt understand and true to most wives. mine is a rarity she loves looking with me. she has gotten good too. she wants most of them worse than i do sometimes she just pulled home an old 56 ford f100 the other day for me to fix up haha. my dad is the one that hates the old stuff because he doesnt like taking trucks and cars that far down hes afraid of not being able to bring it back. if it doesnt run and drive already he doesnt like working on it. the wife and i however see so much of the potential in the old iron. and i think thats the case with most of us here we know our ability and see what it COULD look like. |

Re: Bird watching...
Heres the last of the pics I have for now. The yellow truck looks pretty good from the road, but the 2 flats say its probably been sitting for awhile. The last pic is my favorite, I dig the patina on that one with the old logo on the door.

Re: Bird watching...
The first pic is of a truck I spotted down the street from my house yesterday, a roofing crew had it loaded with shingles and tar paper. I included it cause its always cool to see an old truck still being put to good use.

Re: Bird watching...
The last pic is of a truck I posted last year. I saw it one day when I was at work and took some pics, but hadnt ever seen it again until yesterday when I just happened to spot it while I was out hittin the dirt roads lookin for old trucks. This is the last of them for now, I'll add to this thread when I get more. Hope you guys enjoyed 'em!

Wow great pics and thanks. I can almost swear that I have heard of that bug with the RR grill before. I will have to find who told me about that now. and that last truck, well thats just a crime.

Re: Bird watching...
Don't have any photos of old iron to share right now, but since this thread spoke to the subject of finding eagles, I just though I'd share these baldies from about a year ago.
Two adults & two immature chicks (no white heads yet) . Nesting pair of adults who are back year after year & are very good breeders. They usually have 2 - 4 chicks, and almost always two of them survive to maturity. Lotsa trout to eat here along the White & North Fork Rivers. This photo was taken from a friend's living room, high on a bluff top site overlooking the nesting tree, using his spotting scope on a tripod. I just layed the camera lens tight up against the eyepiece, crossed my fingers for luck, & snapped (one shot only). Turned out pretty good. It's a rare treat not too many folks ever get to enjoy, to see these majestic birds in flight, & "at home with the kids..........." |

Re: Bird watching...
Glad you liked the picture.
I thought it was pretty cool, to be able to grab a picture thru a spotting scope. With the amount of gray hair I've got, I usually don't suffer from the "foolish-pride thing" very much anymore, but this picture made me proud. I'm definitely not a bunny-hugger, but watching those huge birds never fails to bring a lump to my throat, thinking of how very close they came to being gone forever. Now they're coming back strong. |

Re: Bird watching...
If they have 2 chicks that live almost every year, they are some dang good breeders.

Re: Bird watching...
"Bird Watching" is our redneck code for going beer drinking. When we get home, the wife always asks what kind of birds we saw. The stock answer is a couple of mud hens, some spoonbills and one elusive beautiful golden plumed double-breasted mattress thrasher. Y'all can use this if you wanna get in trouble too!
