Re: 2wd lift and new 18's w/ 33x10.5 Nittos

Do you think that the 2500 8 bolt wheel 2wd lift spindles could be adapted the same way to a 67-87 2wd ?

Would like to get spindle lift for my 67. I have the fabtech 3" coils and 1.5" coil spring spacer. ball joint flipped from top to bottom of upper controll arm and 1" spacer on top of the ball joint. but there is not alot of rebound.

Re: 2wd lift and new 18's w/ 33x10.5 Nittos

Adding life to an old highly informative thread. I'm in the middle of doing this swap on my 71 C20. For those wanting to run Fabtechs 92-98 8-lug spindles, the upper balljoints are not the 88-98 joints. Looking like the factory C20 uppers will work. We'll see when I get off work and can pick the suckers up from O'reilly. If not, does anyone have any suggestions?

So are the ball joints 3/4ton? Because I have a 73 c20 that i'd like to do this to but with a bit wider tire.

Re: 2wd lift and new 18's w/ 33x10.5 Nittos

Question: I have a 3/4 ton and want to do the same lift but keep it a 3/4 ton instead of a half ton. Do they make 3/4 ton 88-98 lift spindles? If not, is the 73-87 3/4 ton spindle size the same as the 88-98 1/2 ton spindle size?

Moog 6454 HD springs.
Belltech 1 3/8" sway bar
73-87 C30 lower A-arm
73-87 C10 upper A-arm

One problem I ran into was the 88-98 outer tie rods connect to the spindle from underneath and caused interference with the sway bar. I do not know if this would be a problem with the stock sway bar. Since the tie rod joint is smaller then a 73-87, what I did was get a taper reamer from summit and reamed it from above and used the stock tie rod.

The brake hoses are from a 88-98 and they connect to the frame differently. If you clock them just right, they will fit into the hole in the frame and use a horseshoe shaped clip to hold it in.

The spindle, rotors, bearings, calipers, pads, ball joints and hoses I used were from a 1994. The rest is stock 73-87 parts, with 1 ton lower control arms.

You have to use 88-98 rotors and calipers. Since the 88-98 ball joint is bigger, it wont fit 1/2 ton arms. I'm using 88-98 Raybestos PG (formerly Spicer) ball joints.

Nice build looks good!! I have an 84' I want to do this to, did you have to do and frame mods for the a-arms? Or is everything bolt on?

Wish I would have seen this a week ago! Just bought some bags to raise up the front of a 2wd.

I would imagine they're OE replacement Bilsteins.

The lower a-arm's remain in the factory location w/a HD spring so the distance between the lower shock mount (@ the a-arm) & the upper mount (@ the frame) hasn't changed much.
