Re: LFD's 41 chevy Project "Fill-in"

I will make 2 small plates that will fill the recess's in the cowl I had to make for hinge clearance and they will have sweep seals on them as well.

Re: LFD's 41 chevy Project "Fill-in"

I like the hinge design with the strut option, how did you came up with the design? Do you design stuff in your head or use some kind of software? Are you welding/bolting the remaining sides of the hood to the fenders? Great job!

In my head and on paper after that if not right to the steel. The sides I have do not fit these glass fenders so I think I will be making a new set for him that will be removable from the cowl/grill.

Thanks! Here is some of todays work. I have all the hood bracing done on the 41 except for the very front plate that the hood latch will mount to. I also started on my friends 46 chevy hood, it will be identical to the 41.

Also non of this bracing is touching the skin of the hood, it is all attached to the turned in edges of the stock hood. You would not believe how stiff this make the entire hood. This will eliminate any problems after paint.

This is what the 41 parts started out like after I wheeled them up using a rubber band on the upper wheel.

Not much but the chassis is finished and at the powder coaters right now and will be done on the 12th. Then I can start to put it all back together and get it on the road before summer is over I hope

The chassis came apart fast but I am not looking forward to putting it back together as their is a ton of stuff in that small package!

Re: LFD's 41 chevy Project "Fill-in"

I have the chassis back and put it together this week end. The powder coat was done by Maas brothers in Livermore ca and turned out very nice. I will next be working on the cab to get it ready to jamb and re-install.

Here is a sneak peak of my current personal project.

Re: LFD's 41 chevy Project "Fill-in"

Thanks guys but I still have another 40-50 hours of tweaking on this side alone before I start to build the drivers side, right now it is just the passenger half. Then once that is done and the fender bucks are made then I figure on about 1200 hours for the body portion.

Kevin~
They say it takes 10,000 hours of practice to truly become an expert in a craft, do you think you're around there? More? Less? just wondering, like a said, a different level.
