If I were you, I would save up and get a new Tranny, maybe a six speed, that would be nice. You can also switch over to a auomatic, but I don't know what all would have to be done inorder for that to work. If you really want to keep your colum shift, you might want to try swaping the entire axle for one with a taller gear.

so... I have a 373 rear and factory 308 gears will not fit unless I get a carrier for a 308.

and factory 308 gears will fit a 308 carrier and will fit in a rear end that origionally had a 373
