Had to pop a wheel in a tire just for fun.
Now the big question what color to paint the wheels ?
My boy (almost 13) says blue like Oklahoma City Thunder. Growing up with the Sonics I can't go there.
My wife says black but before she was saying silver.
Nick says leave em white but I think maybe that'd be too much white.

I think maybe a cream 50's style ?
Ideas welcome !

Not a problem, glad that someone will get use out of them.

You're right about the white; that is a bit too much. A cream or a somewhat darker tan would look good. Have you thought about red? Just a thought. My F-I-L says that you need to have at least 3 colors on any hot rod. I don't know why but it does seem to make sense.

rustoleum makes a color called espresso. the can looks dark but the color comes out like chocolate. good progress

Like docrock said, go to Lowes, they have lots of "decorator" colors in the Rustoleum line. Try and stay away from the Disney and Martha Steward lines, I am always amazed at some of the colors my wife brings home for her projects.

Might try a can of espresso. Worth a try. So Nick told me that a local tire shop
will blast/powdercoat wheels for 30$ ea. dang good deal.
Had my driver at work confirm it. Still probably just bomb can them for now.
Could always fall back on spun disc I have. Not sure I like ?

Did get it started and drove it in front of my shop so I can figure out the brakes. Looks good but thinking the RR cyl is seized. Had to feather the clutch as a brake while it was rolling backwards toward the shop.
Moving is more important than stopping.
Now it sits in front of the shop. My neighbors must be so proud !

Work is slow, been looking around for ideas on how to get by, but get by safely re: brakes. Not ready to swap to disc, just yet.
I'm on the cheap but also like the idea of a dual master. $99 for a bracket
"kit" Nah ! I'll make one.
For now, today (always subject to change) I'm thinking run newer MC and keep the hucks with new cylinders.
Of course this means new lines and hoses. That should get me safe.

Picked a color (when I should be working on the brakes) Turned out I like the color but the finish did not work real good but thats o.k keeps the "rough" look going. Its Rustoleum Hammertone (Hammerite rip off) brown.
So now it looks less like a pile I just drug home. O.K. who am I kidding it looks just like a pile I drug home and put nicer tires and wheels on it.
Not 100% sold on the whitewalls but its much much easier to mount a tire by hand than it is to dismount. So for now it stays whites out.

We'll my son left for a month east coast vacation with his mom so I toyed with the 49 a little later in the day. Removed the gas tank, very rusty looking gas/water nasty stuff. Huge dent in the tank so I don't plan on reusing it.
Time to match something up.

Got my rear wheel cylinder kits today. I'll go through those then move to the master and see if its rebuildable.
Funny thing when pulling apart the LR cyl. it had 1, 1&3/16th cup and 1
1&1/4 cup ? never seen that before.

If the master is questionable it will be time to upgrade. Know soon.
Still looking/thinking about gas tank options. JC repo tank just too much right now.

Been trying to get brakes enough to feel comfortable driving around the yard.
(kind of hilly here)
Turns out the master is a done deal so back to using the e-brake.
So what do you do when the brake repair didn't work ?
Take off both rear fenders of course.
Rusty but it is 60 + y.o. ground down some rust and added some rust preventative paint just to slow things down till it can get done right.

looks great from my view over over the fence! did you make your m/c bracket yet? i really like these panels and the fact it doesn't have honda civic buckets and does have the stock ones rocks in my opinion. when i get my new project going a 56' panel i just got home i'll have to cruise by for a photo op with it.

Just doing (trying) to do the minimum I can afford (time and money) sadly
I am testing the waters about selling it. Had (have) a few bites on it.
It will stay unless I get what I think its worth, which may be more than everyone else
So still in the thinking stage on a master bracket. And Honda buckets LOL
