The place that does my PC work cleans everything with
some kinda phosphate? (Spelling) as for the welds, Nate
has them so clean that there is no lil balls as you call it.

With shipping and PC they are about the same $ as CPP
but why buy there's when you can have PORTERBUILT

Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms

these are what i am talking about. I am not trying to say anything bad about Nathans welding at all, as a matter fax i think hes better than a robot! This is normal stuff, i just didn't like them after PC was done> i thought i would save you from going threw it. Maybe i am just to picky. That is why i went with Porter built stuff in the first place, i am picky. Sorry if i had hurt anyones feelings, not my intent.

As a powdercoater if i get a customer that brings me a part that looks real bad [lots of slag] I telll them i can clean this up or leave it,it only takes a minute or two to hit it with a 3m disc.

Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms

My PC just forget to tell the young kid to clean them up before they coated them. I forgot i didn't do them till i got to the PC shop. I like to clean everything up before a paint, coat, or polish anything! I am taking my time to even polish the shafts for the A-arms as well as all the bolts. It's just me.
That is why they call it a sickness, and I am one sick SOB!

I've seen CPP's arms in person. They have the same issues that the other aftermarket arms have (except Stock Car products which are basically 'new' upgraded OE arms). The same $$ w/shipping & PC? That's a GREAT deal because you're getting a better truck arm for a similar price!

Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms

Hey Ray.... Stop talking about my balls!

Often times, it's inevitable to get some "welding berries" on the parts when MIG welding. As Ray mentioned, sandblasting alone doesn't always remove these. Those really picky guys (and I know there are a lot of us) may want to put forth a little more effort to remove these, as they will be more noticable with a color coat.

I'm building mine to drive, so road rash and some character is a welcome
addition to my ride (I can hear people gasping through my monitor)

Yep. Nate lays down some excellent beads but there can be some stray slag that will hurt the overall quality of a nice PC job. When I did my Dropmember, a quick (& I mean real quick) once over w/a 3" 3M disc cleaned it up easily.

Nothing.....yet...

Actually I was just messing with Craig and Scoti. I know they have been waiting eagerly and it seemed like a good opportunity to give them a poke in the ribs. Unfortunately they didn't fall for it.....

Re: 2" Drop Trailing arms

so....any plans to adapt this set up to the 73-up frame?

I have been kicking around the idea of swapping a '72-earlier trailing arm suspension into my '80....
