WOW! I didn't know this thread would get this response. Really funny to see the input when we combine the two topics, wives and trucks. Thanks guys for the responses.

Re: Does your wife help you work on you truck?

My first wife had no interest in helping me, but she gave me two great children.
My current wife wants no part of it, infact in the last 9 years she may have come out to the shop 3-4 times And........that was because she needed me for something. But I got to say she likes 40-50's trucks just not enough to hang out and work on them.
Oh well, I guess Im doing something wrong as we are getting a divorce.
I am envious of you guys with wives that like to work on your truck and are supportive of your hobby.

Someday maybe I will have a girlfriend that likes trucks!
No more wives for me.

Uhhh... well, I won't have as great of pics as 68 short step but...

My wife will come out and help me when I need it. I haven't been able to get her to torch anything, or weld, but hey, there's always tomorrow.

My girlfriend does sometimes. She likes 66 body style GMC better. Her old man had a 66 GMC. I don't really likes what she is doing with a T/A but it's her car. 455 motor, th400, 4.10 gears ready to go, only body work left.

Re: Does your wife help you work on you truck?

My wife will help if asked and doesn't mind getting dirty. She definitely likes driving the truck and took it to work this week while I was out of town with one car and her mom was driving the other. She enjoys the fact I have a hobby and completely understands the idea of garage time.

Re: Does your wife help you work on you truck?

My girl-friend and soon to be wife likes old trucks, although GM's are not her favorite. But she runs mine and has a '72 Ford F-100 of her own which I do like alot. She helps me whenever she can............Whether she helps me or not she means the world to me.

She does point trucks out to me when we are traveling and she doesn't complain when I stop to look at one for sale.

I wish she were more interested, cause I would build her a really nice one. I tried to talk her into a 72 4x4 Burb about 8 years ago, but she wouldn't go for it!

She actually wants one of those VW Things. I'm not sure I could make myself work on one. At least it is from the 70's!!

Good Thread!

Sounds about like my wife, except for the fact anytime I am moving an inoperable truck around, she will even get in and run the steering and brakes (if it has any). I have to give her credit. Sometimes it gets a little scary. This spring I am going to try and teach her to drive the standard trans in my 93 GMC 3/4 ton 4x4. I think it would be better than in a 4cylindercar, since the truck has enough torque that you don't really have to give it any gas when taking off in low. Wish me luck! I tried to convince her that the tractor is easier, but she said she is scared I will fall off the back. If she only knew what I used to get into with my brothers as a kid... She actually wants a Corvair convertible. Even after reading Ralph Nader's crack pot book. She even told me she thought he was full of it after doing some of her own research!

Re: Does your wife help you work on you truck?

WOW, I guess I am somewhere in the middle here. Yes my wife HAS helped install a lift on a couple of my trucks, been to pick a part a few times. But through the week, I am DADMOM, I do ALL the cooking(she can burn water),I raise my 2 boys, take care of the finacnes, grocery shopping, and manage my BBQ catering business. I also build engines for people on the side. I really cant complain as she is as faithful as an old dog,a GREAT mother, and makes over $60 hr!

Re: Does your wife help you work on you truck?

In 9 day's I will have been married 25 years. I had to quit the hot rods

to raise our 2 great kids. In 1998 we got to where we could afford to

get back into it. She had always been a round de' round girl and I'm a drag

racer. The technology had changed a great deal in the years I was out

the game and it took awhile to catch up. Hell I didn't even know what a

transbrake was. It was discouraging and we posted many first round losses.

I was on the verge of loseing her support. Finally we posted a win at a

pretty good race, couple a hundred cars. Weeeell, if you've ever done

it you know the high. We were on air the whole haul home. 4 or 5 hours

in the early morning and for a few days after. She looked at me and

very seriously said, I love this you need to win "EVERY" time. Weeeell

we're still working on that but here in 2008 when we're at a race you

can find her somewhere close to the burnout box dead in the middle

of the fumes and smoke. I LOVE MY WIFE.

P.S.
She won't help in the shop because she say's I can't work on
anything without cussin'. Oh well, give a little, take a little.

My SO helped me install my hood a couple months ago. Used to help bleed the brakes until I got a kit. She's pretty cool about it.

Re: Does your wife help you work on you truck?

My wife stays as far away as she can when it comes to helping me on my projects. She also *****es about spending money and time on the projects, but I wouldn't give her up...... I have offered to sell it all and she talked me out of it, so there must be something there for her, maybe it get's me away from her

Re: Does your wife help you work on you truck?

Mine helps when I ask and she is great about bringing drinks/food when I work late. She helps bleed the brakes and torques the harmonic balancer while I hold the flywheel.

She definitely helps more than my first wife. Like the difference between night and day.

Fortunately for me my wife is as BIG a "hot rodder" as I am....she also rides her own motorcycle and LOVES car crusies/shows & especially drag racing.... as a matter of fact.... our '67 C10 project is being built for her to drag race at nostaglia events & local bracket racing.
