Re: My new toy !!!
Hey spray-bomb long time no chat, lol. I'm jealous to say the least. I like 67's and 68's better but I will assure you I would not bat an eye lash at a 69'.
I may be able to help you out though. What head are you looking for "Casting Number" even though they are not the way to go for modern builds I have been saving these heads for years just for this purpose. Let me know what you are lookin for and I'll let ya know if I can help. Lucky sob, lol! RJ22...

Re: My new toy !!!
Besides the Pro-Mod suggestion,---- which more than a few people don't like (its funny -- i look down my nose at a bagged truck with wild paint in favor of trucks with stock exteriors, yet a funny car caged 69 F body is one of my weekend toys--- at least its all steel though)
I would say - get that poor thing under wraps and dont let it see the light of day until it is ready for a magazine shoot. Too big of a chance of damaging it just driving it around----- unless you can find somebody to insure it for what its worth, which i would guess to be 20k, just as it sits -- 40-50k in todays dollars when its done. You would hate for some grandma in a camry to plow into you --- or some dually driving drunkard. Its funny --- there were actually more Z28's made than most people recall, -- somewhere around 1000 in '67, 7000 in '68 and then 19,000 in 1969. Many did not survive the 70's sadly. In terms of numbers, your Kilroy truck is actually much rarer, but is not worth 20k --- weird -- which makes me ponder the question "Where did they all go?" awesome find!! The car was definitely a retro hot-rod with the guages, headers, and wheels.
I had a few 67 8 9 camaro's including Z's and SS's and the 69 Z is my favorite. congrats!! Last edited by AA Taco Chris; 10-30-2007 at 01:58 PM. |

I love my 69 C10 but my heart is with my 68 rs/ss Camaro, and my 67 Camaro Drag car.
Lucky find, my 68 took years to get also. Last edited by camaro__thunder; 10-28-2007 at 07:59 PM. |

Re: My new toy !!!
I can't get over your good fortune and also the fact that was probably less than 25 miles from my house. Great job. The 70 Chevelle I am trying to get is in this area as well. I have only been working it for a few months, so hopefully I won't have to be as paitent as you. I would love just to troll this area and buy finds like I have seen the last 2 years.

Re: My new toy !!!
I'll keep everybody posted, but it'll prolly be a little while before I can do anything to it
I have a butt loud of stuff to sell & about 2 projects to finish (neither of them very long, I'm on the tail end of one & the other is more like just getting it put together & on the road) But after that, I should have enough money & time to work on it |

Re: My new toy !!!
I've had mine a long time 1984. I started restoring in 92 right when gm discontinued all the body parts but I was able to get all but one quarter , had to pay 600$ for that one. I put the car away and 13 years later started on it again. this time I will finish it. When you start taking yours apart keep us posted.

Re: My new toy !!!
For an inexpensive tranny to get it running while you are looking for the period correct muncie, try these guys:
http://mrracingequipment.com/ and go to the transmissions section. I just bought a reworked saginaw close ratio 4 speed from them for $545 plus $80 shipping. Its period correct, will fit (since it was in many Camaro's from the period), and is cheap for a "get it running now" fix. The Hurst shifter for the '69 camaro is available from Summit, as is the install kit. Shifter will run about $220, the install kit about $125. Unless you have parts on hand or some good used ones available thats as cheap as I could find. GREAT FIND!!!! Glad your persistance paid off and you rescued an American legend. Keep us posted on the progress.

Re: My new toy !!!
If its the original distributor you found its worth $1000 bucks. The wheel would be a YH code ralley worth a couple hundred. Tach and gauges were an option and not standard equipment. Sweet find worth 30K like you found it. Which green is it. 57 fathom, 59 frost, or 79 ralley green. Restore it the way it came , a flat hood D80 non style trim car.
