Still have it, I even have the Shifter plate for it. I will have to get back to you about the shipping, got to weigh it and figure out how to box it & save some weight here as well. I am surprised more people havent asked about this trans.

You can ship it via Amtrak pretty cheaply, if you get down to Boston anytime soon. Just bring it down to them, drained of oil and they will put it on a pallet for you.

Can you send me your phone # again?

There's an Amtrak station just 20 miles from me. That sounds like a good option to me. Let me know.

I saw the post you had in another group and I am not backing out of anything, dont get me wrong here, I want to make sure this trans is an overdrive first before I accept & send it to you. It was in my truck to begin with and the previous owner said it was an OverDrive, I just dont remember the OD gearing being all that great as some mentioned in the other post that it has a tall gear like a 700R4. Let me verify it is what it is supposed to be. I dont want to send you a trans and findout it isnt an over drive unit, nobody will be happy.

Re: Misc Performance and etc

Ok Verified trans is an Overdrive, I called Drivetrain.com and gave them the numbers off of the trans and it is an Overdrive transmission. They also said that if it came with the 10 spline input that it was OD, I just wanted full verification. I also called Amtrak, I have to palletize the trans, the only destinations for a pallet is Kansas City, St Louis, and Chicargo. Cost of service is $55.00 plus the crate if I have to buy one which I dont have, and you and I have to go out of our way for either of these. Good news though, I can ship ground Fedex for $50 and it will be delivered to your door.

I know the trans was good and maybe I pulled it because of the gearing and put the M20 I had in. it's been about 8years or so.

AWESOME and for a good shipping price.
What do you mean "tall" gears? and Why did you choose the M20 over this trany? (Now mind you, i'm looking for the overdrive.)

I cant remeber last week never mind 8yrs ago. I had the M20 and I just put it in, I also new that the M20 had some descent gears in it for banging gears, I at that time didnt really know what the trans was and the previous owner was a trinkit master, he had all kinds of stuff in this truck, if it was free he put it in there.

Here is the gear ratios according to Drivetrain
1st 3.09
2nd 1.67
3rd 1.1
O/D .073

Re: Misc Performance and etc

Just an FYI on that A833. I have one and that casting in the pic looks like the odd man out. There were a couple different castings(3 in the chevy nature) and that one requires a special Bell housing. Bowtie, do you have the bellhousing that goes along with it? Can you post a foward looking picture of mounting flanges?

Same bell housing as the stock GM, I will get a couple picks as well as check it on another bell housing I have, but when it came out of the 67 it was bolted to the stock style gm bell housing of the 67's I even bolted in a M20 into the same housing.

I measured out the bolt pattern as well as fitted both the M20 and the A833 in both of the bellhousings I have and all where identicle bolt patterns.

Also interested in the driveshaft that was used with this tranny - was it in a LWB or SWB?

Forgot about that, will get to it.

69_hafton: the truck is a Shortbed, If I remeber corectly I had to chop it going to the 700R4 trans thats currently in my truck.

Update: The A833 Trans from flat of bell housing point to tail shaft casing end is 21 1/4", to end of spline on tailshaft is 22"

Muncie M20: Bell to tailshaft housing end 22" & to end of spline is 22 9/16"

Re: Misc Performance and etc

Just measured my SAG and it's 17 or 18 " from Bell Housing mounting point to End of tail. Looks like I'll be making a trip to the Drive shaft shop.

Does the shifter and linkage come with the tranny?
