Re: My newly aquired 69 shortbed with factory air

I removed my master cylinder & booster along with the tilt column so it would not get damaged or get over spray on them while I'm doing this latest mod.

Oh yea, I also ordered new gears and bearings for the DeWalt. The new DeWalts do not seem to be made as well as my 13 year old one is, plus the parts were only $42 opposed to nearly $100 for the new ones.

Re: My newly aquired 69 shortbed with factory air

Well, here is a little more progress...

Aside from the A/C holes being filled along with the blower hole filled and rounded off to match the drivers side, can you see what else was done

Thats EXACTLY what I didn't want to say a year from now I had the firewall all painted, but I would have never been completely happy with it, so out came the grinder and welder .

Re: My newly aquired 69 shortbed with factory air

Well, I decided to properly name my build thread since it is no longer a newly acquired truck

Today I busted out some mud and began to do the finishing of the firewall...Much to my horror, must have been bad hardener, the filler did not set....CRAP! So I just went out and scraped it off, I'll try again tomorrow. I put some on the drivers side with different hardener and it set up just fine, whew.

I decided to remove the little "hump" on the passenger side right above the A/C holes. I'd seen it removed on a couple and thought ah heck, it wouldn't be that much extra work, so I nixed it.

I'll try and get the bodywork finished on the firewall in the next week and post more updates.

Mike

Now you see it

Now you don't

Is that thing smooth enough for you yet? It`s looking good.Who knows maybe it`ll get painted to match the truck some day. It`s great to see someone going for just what they want.Keep it up.

This is true. I've seen this truck, and it looks better in real life. Glad to see the work moving forward Mike. I guess you didn't get out to goodguys this weekend? Instead you stayed home to grind off all that beautiful paint huh? Still open to helping out if you need anything. later - Simon

Re: Project Tangelo

Well not a lot to update today, but I did do some roughing in with some filler to get the shape I wanted. I'll need to go over it a few more times before primer to get the corners and edges finished.

Sux having a bad back I tell ya, 6 months after surgery and I can still only put in about an hour or so before it gives out on me...I know I've said it before but GUYS, take care of your back, it's the only one you have!!! (sorry for the whining )

I really love that color. I plan on doing mine that too. I love the truck but my absolute favorite would be slogo's custom C5 that is the same color.

Re: Project Tangelo

I love the color too but most of all i am in love with the detail of work he is doing.

I wish i could find some one with that much talent to teach me a few things. I want to do the work on my truck myself so i can truly say its ALL my own work .... but like most of us i will prolly be spending tons of cash on body prep and paint.

Well it's a date then

I am almost always home so give me a shout out if you're ever down this way, I have 2 ongoing projects so there's always tons to do. If you want to learn I can definitely teach you anything you want to know about body & paint...saves big $$$ down the road if you can do your own stuff.
