Re: More drop and Pics... whatch'a think?

Anthony, thanks for posting all of this... your stance is pretty much what I want... what exact parts/mods did you do to get it there? Any cutting/drilling into the frame or original components?

Sweet wheel and tire pacakge too, I'd like the same... of course, that looks close to 2 grand in wheels and tires, no?

Thanks man... here you go:
Front:
-3" Belltech drop spindle
-3" drop coil
Rear:
-Belltech 2" drop shackle
-deached the stock springs 4"
-removed the overload spring and "2ea" stock springs as well
Modifications:
-I had to notch out the bed rails in order to have clearance for the the drop shackles (not a big mod)
-trimmed an 1" or so off of the rear bump stops
My personal complaints:
-It rides pretty darn ruff due to way I did the rear suspension... but if you have followed my other "stances"- this was the next least expensive way to go (instead of bags).
If I were to do it again:
-I would do the front the same
-the rear I would go with a flip kit and a 2" shackle and maybe remove a leaf (depending on the stance)
And for your final question:
-the wheel/tire package was closer to $3K... approx. $2800 ($$ well spent-- wheels and tires will make or break any vehicle) IMO
BTW: I have a pair of 18s w/tires and a pair of 20'' tires in storage that I'm willing to part with. (check out my Test fitted 18/20 thread). And before anyone comments... I would recommend going the same size front and back as well.

Hope this helps you decide on the future of your ride... I'm looking forward to seeing it hugging the ground.

Thanks for the comments,
Anthony

How often is it driven? I'd think that at some point we would have crossed paths by now

Re: More drop and Pics... whatch'a think?

I have a question for you when you were running this set up

Wheels are American TTII's:
Front: 17x8.5 with 255x60's
Rear: 17x9.5 with 275x60's

Suspension:
Front: 3" Belltech spindle and with 1 coil removed
Rear: Springs have been rearched/dearched 4", 2" shackle, and also I removed the overload leaf-spring (the bottom heavyduty leaf)

were you having issues with you tires rubbing in the front if so how bad. im looking at doing something similar and want to know what im getting my self into lol thanks.

Ummm.. not for sure yet- I gotta stop the front tires from rubbing first.

Thanks!

Well, how about getting some skinnier wheels for the front. With the right tires, you'd be able to escape from your rubbing problem. Hey, is there any way you can take some pictures from a good camera, instead of a cell phone? Thanks... NICE TRUCK!

Re: More drop and Pics... whatch'a think?

are you still having clearance issues in the front? my 79 is 3/4" higher than yours and it hardly ever rubs. you might want to try a coil spacer should bring it up a 1/2"or so or go with a 2 1/2" spring. my front tires are 245-40-20 there 27" tall which would make it about the same as yours. just a suggestion.

The rubbing issues are pretty far in between now:
- I had an alignment done (tops of tires were pointed in after drop coil install)
- I also removed the factory bolts that held the jack in place on the inner fender...
- they still rub the inner fenders once in awhile during bumps/dips, but nothing major-IMO.

As far as new pics... I will get some when the sun comes out and it turns green around here!

Thanks guys,
Anthony

That is one sweet truck.. but, I'm partial to the '87 year model. I'm dropping a BBC in mine tomorrow. Can't wait to get in the garage in the morning and get started. Been prepping since November.
