Very cool truck. How do you plain on modifying your rear bumper brackets? Two more, your tow hitch, How far down from the top of the frame rails is the top of your receiver and how far away from the frames edge does it go out horizontally? I want to do this same thing and would love some info on how you did yours. Thanks.

Thank you!

you notice that the bumper mount is going to be a mod? lol.. I liked only one hole coming through the role pan.. so just going to modify the brackets to be an "L" shape with a small cross brace at the corner of the L and that way only one leg of the brace goes through the pan.

As far as the to hitch.. it is mounted to the bottom of the frame and welded so that it acts as a cross brace as well. I just lined it up with the roll pan so that it will hide behine the license plate. I thought of modifying the bumper so I could use a spring license plate holder, but I like the bumper as is.. so I figured I would just unscrew the plate (2 screws) when I use the hitch.

Its Carolina Blue - Special flat paint.... the white accents that go on it when it's done (and scalloped hood) is also flat but with a bit of a kick... it has pearl in it

Thanks again! I really appreciate the kudos especially given all the great trucks on here!! And I might enter it in some local stuff.. but this is going to be a daily driver. I would sa it will be a nice 10 footer when it gets done..lol

And it will be my son's to boot... my next project is a 30's to early 40 p/u.. that one will be mine.

I was wondering what you were going to do about that. I also wonder how hard it would be to fab up a sliding (down) type license plate holder with a spring return. Sure would be cool. Probably not to hard to do with a little thought.

Any plans on mounting any safety loops for the chains when pulling stuff? I was thinking about having someone weld them to the back of the bumper before I get i chromed.

Interesting idea for the plate.. have to think about that one!

Yup.. either loops on the brace that holds the hitch... not on the bumper, I dont think it would be storng enough.. or wrap a coated chain around the brace... Im still tossing that one up...

Re: Old Blue eyeS updates with pics!

You could also slot the bumper on one side and have the plate slide behind the bumper to access the hitch. Then add an actuator and have it remote activated. Makes it easier to hide the plate when the cops are chasing you.
