Re: New guy with truck

lmc truck sells em, i bought all my parts from them. funny thing was i ordered a left and a right and they sent me two of the same, they labeled them wrong by using the left barcode on both parts even though they have an R and an L stamped into them. It took them three tries to send me the correct one.

There really isnt much to the part, it just closes in that area so mud cant get lodged up in the pocket. If I could do it over again, i would have made my own out of some scrap steel.

Re: New guy with truck

should be 38-9066 and 38-9067

they are $40 each now, I paid $30 a couple of years ago.

Personally I would save $80 and bend up a few pieces of steel and weld them in like this.

Re: New guy with truck

So how did you use the 94 Roadmaster A arms, rotors, and brakes on the camaro front end? Did they bolt on to the subrame? Are the A arms longer? I'm very curious about this, I have a 56 truck with a camaro sub, and I have a 95 Lt 1 Caprice that I'm using for parts. Scott

Re: New guy with truck

This sounds interesting! Are the A-arms the same width as the Camaros from the inner bushings to the ball joints? Reason I ask is I have the Camaro subframe but the wheels I have [from a prior project that I would really like to use] don't have the right back-spacing and almost touch the fender lip. If the arms are narrower it would pull the wheels in and give me a little more room. I am crossing my fingers you'll say they are.

Re: New guy with truck

It's looking real good keep it up. I have a question .The pics your motor looks really low and foward. I did a 70 camaro swap on my 56 the pass side valve cover is right up close to the firewall, and I have a mounting block that the motor mount bolts thru. I am also using the stock camaro tranny mount. Whats differant?

Re: New guy with truck

I have a camaro sub on my truck, have a 95 caprice, and my son has a s10 truck, so I went out and have been doing some measuring. I couldnt really get a tape on the caprice a arms, but the camaro ones are 7 3/4 and the mounting bar the the a arm connects to the subframe by. It is 6 3/4 from the engine side of that bar to the grease zerk on the a arm. The same measurement on the S10 for the width of the mounting holes in the mounting arm is 7 inches. The distance from the arm to the top grease zerk is 7 3/4. So unless you modify the S10 a arms somehow I dont think they will work. The width of the camaro arms are 12 5/8's and the s10 is 11 inches.

Re: New guy with truck

Your progress looks great. On your cross member for the back of the trans, I would make sure that the tail of the trans is centered in the frame. your crossmember looks like mine and a friend pointed out that it wasn't centered and I never really checked, I just thought since it was a crossmember from a car that it would be centered. Scott
