Re: Poll...Is your truck a numbers matching truck?

The Only way to tell if your truck's engine is numbers matching is if you have the original build sheet, which will list the code stamped on the front pad of the engine. There is no relationship between the VIN and any of the engine's numbers. You can check the casting numbers and the suffix code to see what yr/model the engine came in, but that's about it. I have the build shhet on my 72 C-20, and it is numbers matching

Not the original engine, trans or rear end. About the only thing original will be the cab and the frame.

I have 3 trucks of this era and voted numbers matching as the K5 Jimmy and the 71 K20 will and have original engines. My C2500 has a 300 HP 350 in it from a 70 Chevelle that I installed in 1986.

Re: Poll...Is your truck a numbers matching truck?

Mine was seriously molested before I got it. Motor, trans, transfer case, cab, one or more fenders, seats, steering column, rear brakes, etc.

Lots of parts from an 85 truck it seems, and a lot of it poorly done. Oh well...

Re: Poll...Is your truck a numbers matching truck?

My 72 Cheyenne Super is completely original, but when my dad owned the truck he upgraded to an electric ignition system and Edelbrock carb and intake.

Does that make it non-numbers matching?

What does having a numbers matching restore do for the value?

Re: Poll...Is your truck a numbers matching truck?

Going for the 100 pt. restoration...even have the correct split rims on the build sheet and the original spare!!!! It is interesting to note that any dealer installed item, as long as it is documented, is perfectly fine in a 100 pt. restoration.

Original spare tire mounted up for S&G's.

Numbers matching to me means...if its not the original carb...as long as it has the original type replacement carb that came with the motor its ok. As far as value...that is determined by a potential buyer. To me...all the changes/improvements to my truck could easily be redone to put it back to the original factory condition.

Re: Poll...Is your truck a numbers matching truck?

the 71 chevy i bought from my dad is numbers matching
the only parts not on the truck that are orignal numbers matching/came from factory on it as the truck sits today are the rims the intake(i own them) and the seat and hub caps (i dont own)
in this picture the original rims are still on the truck

Mine is matching, except for the paint. It has been repainted, but it is the factory color.

Looks like the factory matching trucks are staying at about 45%.

Re: Poll...Is your truck a numbers matching truck?

The original owner put in a re manufactured engine in 1982 but it looks factory as far as appearances go. I have a 283 with a build date that would be correct for my 1967 that I may switch to but I don't think it matters as far as value.
