Looks like alot of work!

Just out of curiosity, is that fuel filter before or after the electric pump?

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

IM ALMOST DRIVABLE!!!!

Last night I turned the key and fired it up the beast, felt so powerful just sitting there.
missing some minor details like front brake lines need replacing, still have no battery tray and no rear brake lines at all, i need to get a switch for automatic fan, and some other little stuff but its almost drivable to go get its own gas, thinking that may happen Sunday!!!

I took a video of its first fire up, but as the last ones were, the phone video is no Bueno and sound is just horrible. anyone got a handy cam to donate?

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

I feel like this is taking forever All work is being done in house by just myself and brother after work from no earlier than 6pm till whenever im tired or run out of things able to do that day. Hand tools only, no lift, not even an air compressor, just wrenches ratchets and screwdrivers. But i thought about it and those hours also include trips to the parts store, logging into the forum to see if anyone answered my post, setting up the BBQ grill, eating dinner, finding that one tool that i just had a minute ago, fixing the lawnmower, junking the camry, trying to fix my dads F150, my sisters suburbans water pump, building work benches and stuff like that. I think more hours have gone to single day side projects than the truck itself. im guessing about 70 hours bein in the garage doin something and we estimated about 25 of those hours on the truck so far

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

thanks guys: idonutn0, nightmare, Tx Firefighter, highperf4x4, texanidiot25, VA72C10 and everybody else for your comments and support and all that. keeps this interesting and makes me want to post more up here. I started this just as a record for myself when i saw others do that. I guess At first i didnt think anyone would be following it but then i also kinda thought more would, it being a c20 vs c10 like everyone else seems to have. Now i see its not till i get to bodywork, suspension, interior, or creative customizations thats when it begins to really get interesting

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

If you look at your thread on the forum list you'll see how many views it's received on the right side. Most people will watch what you're doing even though they don't post. My truck thread for instance has 710 replies but almost 31,000 views.

However, it's the detailed stuff like what you're doing right now that will help someone out or give them an idea about what to do with their own stuff so keep lots of that info coming. You never really know how much you're helping someone else and we like to see what's happening with every truck on here. It's interesting and informative to say the least. Anyway, keep up the good work and keep posting the pics!!

no, it's not unique views. Everytime someone comes back to look it's another view.

btw, I wish I could get my reverse lights working. I have the th400 too. Do you know where the switch is?

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

Neutral Saftey / Reverse Switch is located on steering colum just before firewall, the reverse wire should be green one.. Attached by 2 bolts 1/4 inch on the backside of the switch. the column has a tab inside that rotates as you shift the lever this contacts a plastic tab and positions the switch in the proper place for the reverse lighst and ignition per respective gear.
Thanks for asking this question it made me go find it and discover the one i had was bad luckily i had another switch that did work sitting on a seperate column Heres the photos as promised

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

today adjusted valves, replaced brake master cylinder, threw back in the "carpet" and added some Tundra floor mats, cleaned the seat figured out the power steering hoses are no bueno and brake line has a hole in it so still not driveable. unable to purchase these till after payday. re installed gas tank and the cardboard covering with a little persuasion to stay in place

Re: My Build Thread to Document and watch progress 72 C20

Awesome! thanks for the info. I didn't know the nuetral safety switch ran the reverse lights too. Mine went out and I stuck a jumper wire in it temporarily so hopefully when I replace the switch the lights will come on again!!
