Re: some christmas present...
Ended up with 4800 and a clear title, I think thats fair. I should be able to put it back together better than before and have a little left over for my time and trouble.

Re: some christmas present...
Great to hear that this ended okay but still sucks that you have to rebuild your truck.

Re: some christmas present...
It sucks, but I'll get to build it the way I want and replace a bunch of things that I probably wouldn't of had the opportunity to otherwise. Someone had redone cab corners, rockers, and floors sometime in the past and while it was mostly solid it was a poor job and I'll be fixing that with a newer rust free cab with real gm doors. I'm replacing the old factory rear springs and 4" lift blocks with BDS 6" lift springs all the way around. It had lift springs up front but they may have been for a newer truck or something because they seem a bit narrow for the mounts, so that will get taken care of as well. The front clip was really the best sheetmetal on the truck and luckily that was untouched except for paint. Hopefully it will at least be mobile if I can get a rear end this weekend, im having a hard time finding one with 3.73s like I had so I may end up buying the cheapest 12 bolt ive found and rebuilding it with new gears, bearings, and the carrier from my old one if its useable.

Re: some christmas present...
im not sure, I kinda liked the color it was. Kind of a modified version of that light blue millions of these truck were, just a little metal flake added. I guess it depends on what color the new cab I get is and how much I like it. My buddy refered to the truck as "blue" once and the name just stuck so it will most likely be some shade of blue.

Re: some christmas present...
Yeah I think it looked great with that shade of blue you had before. Would look cool with hugger orange I don't see many of these trucks with orange.

Re: some christmas present...
Thanks, it was old single stage paint that was beyond the point of being saved anyways but I liked the color. There was rust peeking through in a few places and I was procrastinating turning it into primer machine but I guess now I don't have a choice lol. I cant really recall a time where Ive driven a vehicle for more than a year or two that didn't wind up in primer for years or half spray paint waiting for real paint.

Re: some christmas present...
Yeah, this is my first vehicle and I have a lot of work ahead of me, but I look forward to it. I am most unexpirenced with vehicle paint, but good luck.

Re: some christmas present...
Yeah I am but in some parts I will have to rush things. I'm and this is the only vehicle I have so it will be a daily driver for work. But will definable take my time on the body work. I don't know exactly where you live but out here in Indiana it is impossible to find parts for these trucks out here.

Re: some christmas present...
I hear you on the daily driver thing. Ive always worked on stuff while I drive it, its the only way I can stay motivated. Im in CT, theres still parts around but you have to look def not like it used to be. When I was in high school everyone had these trucks because you could get a decent driver for 500 bucks and parts were cheap and plentiful. I still havent found a rear end with the right gears after 2 weeks of looking. Looks like ill be buying one and doing a rebuild with new gears to match the front.

Re: some christmas present...
Thats it man, still a crappy thing to happen but at least now ill have enough to fix the truck the way I want and have some left over to cover my labor. What they were orig. offering barely would have payed for my parts and def not paint. The body shop I had look at it didn't even want to touch it and actually called the insurance adjuster right in front of me and told him it would cost 3 times as much to fix as his quote was.
