Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

On my DJM flip kit, i bought my u-bolts locally and got the best ones I could have made. They were like $60. I dont trust cheap u-bolts. I would definatley not use a flip kit for any kind of performance truck.

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

Just a reminder. Since I don't make money I had to keep these in and be very carefull driving it for the past few months. I bought some mopar spring perches and welded myself a flipkit and got some new u bolts that are grade 8.

I urge anybody that has this problem or knows someone with this kit to come forward so we confront the maker (djm suspension) of this crap and let them know this is not ,ok not safe and unprofessional. The last two weeks I've been driving every time I let off the gas my axle would shift and my truck would dart to one side of the road. And I know my entire front is good cause ALL is new moog parts and energy suspension

Good luck everybody keep the rubber on the ground and keep the wheels spinning and the beavers grinning

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I had a DJM drop kit on a Astro van years ago. No issues with it. I agree that the C-10 flip kit is a joke. I have one in my scrap pile out back if anyone wants it. Western Chassis or Belltech is a way better part.

Could be djm is right next to a shipping port wher metal from china can be shipped in and they could bend it or assemble the kit In The little shack of theirs

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

That is just ridiculous that they sell it. With my tax return last year i was going to get a full djm drop but ended up going with belltech in the back and western in the front. I called djm to figure out what i needed and the guy i spoke with actually talked me out of buying his product. He told me that all their products are sold as "bolt on" kits but in all actuality they are not. So i hung up the phone and saved 1000$

Back in the late 70s and 80s the metal was just starting to get poor. Now it's terrible. The metal used was likely not hardened steel.

Keep in mind your Ubolts need to be torqued evenly simular to a cylinder head.
Please tell me that you are no longer using this setup? Reminds me of hockey puck body lifts, and spring spacers. That is in no way how that should be done...just IMO.

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I bought a djm 3/4" drop kit years ago for an '87 GMC. It was coil springs and shackles and hangers. After a short time the coil springs sagged to approx a 5" drop and the shackle and hangers made the rear sit crooked as heck. I never was happy with their product, and haven't bought any of it since. In fact from what i have heard about them over the years, you couldn't give me a djm product. Belltech is all i have used since and the ONLY way to go imo.

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

Dang....to think I was considering buying a djm kit for my truck. I'm glad I didn't. Got an eBay flip bracket kit instead. Hope that don't turn out to be junk either. Guess I'll have to wait and see

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

So you ***** about the poor quality and how unsafe they are, how your rear axle is moving around and how lucky you are for not going to the drags...
But you continue to drive around on the same unsafe parts for THREE more months!
Even as your axle moves and your truck darts to one side of the road?
Funny.....

Re: Djm flip kit. Made from top grade modeling clay?

I hate to bash...there are always going to be product failures but I had a DJM flip kit fail in a similar way, only it was for a 2007-up silverado. These are supposed to be adjustable, however with very, very little torque the upper plates split from their gussets/welds and bent like noodles. The steel is very soft, doesn't "feel" like A36. I pitched them in the trash.

Funny.....
Had a cut in hours and was financially exhausted after everthing else so yes. Luckily my work is only down the road. This truck is all I have to drive and despite being poor as dirt I can build it better than a lot better than most

That is some scary stuff there. I'm glad I found this thread. Looks like I will not be going this route. Thanks for posting this review.

First you want others to do the work for you so you can make a set of these and now your resurrecting a 3 yr old thread. Doing good things bud.

Belltech makes a superior set, for not much more. I know there's a pdf on the specs on one of the tech sites on this forum or another. Good luck brother!

This sh*t is crazy! I've used western chassie kits for my flips, many years of heavy use on them too. Glad this was brought back up, it really should be a sticky in the suspension forum!
