Re: My 1965 "BARNFIND"

I have a question...I need to put some radial tires on the truck. What size are you all using to replicate the original bias plys or what would you use for the best ride?
Thanks,Roy

Re: My 1965 "BARNFIND"

So far I have changed the left rear tail light bulb, cap, rotor, plugs, plug wires and installed a new muffler.
I'm going to have a complete exhaust and tail pipe bent to replace the 48 year old ones, as soon as I get time to. I also changed the fuel tank sending unit because it was shot, lucky I had a newer one left in my parts stash, so now the gas gauge works as it should.
I bought new points and condenser for it too, but to be honest I'm not sure how to install them and set them correctly. Any help would be appreciated. Next, I plan to check the brakes, lines and replace the wheel cylinders just to be safe but they work well as of now. There are slight remnants of a wheel cylinder leak on the back left wheel.
And as I posted earlier I need to put some radial tires on the truck to get the best and safest ride out of it. Bias ply tires are a little squirrely feeling.

That's a cool looking tire, but I have to agree with member "bonehead" in wishing for a similar thin whitewall tire.

Just for reference, you can see what my truck looks like with a Firestone 205/75/15 radial by going to the Photobucket link in my Signature.

Re: My 1965 "BARNFIND"

Today the truck recieved some new radials they're 235 75 r15 Mastercrafts.
It rides alot more stable than the original bias plys that were on it.
It was funny when I asked the tire store manager if they had a 45,000 mile or
50 year warranty whichever comes first like the original set had. They were in great shape but I had to get some radials for safety reasons. I usually never go for white walls out ever but I broke down and did it. I think it looks good on this particular truck.

Perfect. I'm putting on the exact same size with the whitewall tomorrow for my 65.

Sweet! I agree, in stock configuration thin whitewalls look great.

Re: My 1965 "BARNFIND"

Wow your 65 looks awesome!!! I too found an original 65 but... It was a work horse! Which is fine as I'm doing a rat rod. Again though you have a beautiful truck.
