Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
That is exactly what I want to do....a one ton or ton and a half C50/60
I will totally be following that build...will you be extending a regular cab for that one....or using some burb parts?

Pictures show the process for shadow boxing the jerry cans. Still more work to do but this will give you and idea of what it will look like.

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
Yeah I was afraid of how good it would probably look, and it does. You should do a build thread over on expedition portal for this truck as well. Open your customer base up to more people and there are a lot of old iron guys over there as well.
Your build is so scary close to one I plan on doing after my 1 ton is done. I want to do a jeep gladiator in the same tan with white bonnet with Jerry cans mounted to bed on outside. Hopefully the extremely rare step side bed. CJ style hood hold downs. So to say yours is striking a cord with me is an understatement. I am really impressed with what your whole style is and not just on this one truck. I have visited your site and everything is just, well, ...... Perfect. Glad to have stumbled across what you are doing. I am in and looking forward to seeing more. Thanks for sharing. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
Drill Sergeant's bed is coming along nicely this is a picture of the boxed in area for the Jerry Can. For those of you who are wondering, the jerry cans will be buckled in with leather buckle straps.

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
Nice work!! One thought about securing your cans and the other items. What about adding some magnets in the back. Would keep them from moving around and scratching your brand new paint. Just a thought.

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
Love the fabrication skills and out of the box ideas on this build. How are you reinforcing the frame to support the dump bed and plow? I was guessing you would box it in with some kind of really cool pressed holes in the inside plates.

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
Started mocking up the flares for the bed that will match the front fender flares. Will also be adding the gas filler that will be coming out of a Suburban.

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
Looks great. Now I'm intrigued about the front flares. Honestly didn't see those coming. Should be cool.what size wheel and tire set up are you planning?

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
Thanks. Funny you should ask me that. After putting the flare on the bed, I realized the stock 16.5 wheels were not going to be wide enough. I've got 37 x12.50 military tires. Just happen to pick up today 3 Kelsey Hayes wheels which are basically 3.5" deeper. I just need to find one more I don't think it will be too hard. I have one guy here locally that wanted $400.00 for a set of four within two hours this morning I was able to find 3 for $50.00 a piece. I am planning on running the stock hubcaps and I have not decided on using spicer or going with heavy duty warn hubs. I welded on the flare you see in the picture above and installed a gas filler off a suburban, I will post pics tomorrow but so far this bed is way cool. Can't wait to be driving it.

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
Putting new meaning to the phrase Like a Rock. I'm trying to style this flare not only to look like it belongs to the truck but looks really nice also.

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
Looks really good. The fuel filler is on point as far as complementing the design. Glad to know there are people still out there that want it right for no other reason than they have the ability to make it so.

Re: C50 Pick-up Drill Sergeant
I like the rear flares. Looks way better than dropping a dually box on it.
