So, to make a long story short, I gave up on doing body work myself and found a local guy that does great work and was interested in helping out. I took him the parts in pieces and he did the paint/body work, then I took the finished parts back to my shop for reassembly. It worked out better than I expected.

Body man talked me into a different cab (much less rust), different doors (much less rust), new hood and front fenders. Only ended up using the bed, grill, and cowl panel from the body of the original truck.

Got a 4.8L/4L60E from an 04 tahoe, dirty dingo slider mounts on 73 frame stands, used the original crossmember. Used LS3 manifolds, still a tight fit but did not hit anything. Used the truck oil pan. Added old air AC and used the high mount passenger side bracket they sell. Found a driveshaft in my junk pile that was the correct length.

Used an EFI swap tank made for some model of chevelle (cant remember which year) SPECTRA GM34TFI. Put a generic spring loaded filler door on the license plate section and cut a hole for the filler neck very similar to what others have done. Bent some straps to fit the tank and used 1" square tube to mount.
Found out later that I placed the tank to close to the rear end and did not have room for the exhaust to go over the axle. Would move it closer to rear bumper if doing it again but it fits great as is.

Wired it up using the factory truck engine harness. Relocated the battery tray to the drivers side and put the engine computer and TAC module both back behind the battery. Modified the headlight buckets to take some HID headlights with LED halo for a Jeep.

Used a new stock radiator for a 2004 chevy truck. Mounted a factory overflow tank to the passenger fender, the entire cooling system functions exactly like chevy designed it on the truck the engine was pulled from.

Still trying to finish the trim, interior, get bed liner sprayed, finish door panels, and long list of little things. Truck does run and drive. It is basically dropped 3" in front (spindles) and 3" in rear (springs). Has a sway bar up front. Runs and drives very nice. The flowmaster mufflers make it sound like it should. Dakota Digital VHX dash works great by looking factory but functioning like a late model. Added a tilt steering column and a comfot grip steering wheel. Did cut the dash for the pioneer stereo. Put some speakers in custom panels (think I got them from somebody on this board) in the pockets in the back cab corners.

One more thing off the list got the Chevy letters on the front of the hood. Even using the old hood is a template it was still about a 2-hour job measuring two and three times before drilling each time

Use the original battery tray just modified it and placed it on the driver side PCM and TAC module are back behind the battery. I'll take some pics and post them. TAC module is on the side of the original battery tray that was relocated between the drivers Fender and the battery. The PCM is directly behind and below the battery tray almost impossible to take a picture but I tried to take one from under the battery tray.

Got hood trim installed. Fit was not great. It came almost flat. I tried to gently and slowly bend it to fit but it creased slightly right in the middle. Not bad but also less than perfect.

His daily driver is a 1999 grand cherokee.

We kinda got carried away on the quality on this build and it will NOT be a daily driver as we first thought.

I had a few drive shafts in a pile and one of those fit perfectly just got lucky no vibration at highway speed either
