Re: Pole Frame Garage
Your average is not real good. Something we learned doing mine gloves always when doing metal. Hopefully yall get through the rest with no more injuries.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
Dang! Sorry to hear of you and your friend's injuries! That metal is stupid sharp! The insulation looks great though! Isn't it nice to be able to put stuff in it now? It's a double edged sword at this point. You're so close to the end but it feels like so far away from getting in and working on projects in it.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
I am going to try to keep it somewhat empty until i am done working on it. We had a productive day today. We got 27 pieces of ceiling liner up. We had 2 guys on separate scaffoldings and 3 guys on the ground. There are 3 stacks of 13 panels that we predrilled - i wanted straight screws. We started in the opposite end corner of the man door so when you come in the man door you can't see the overlaps. The doors are getting installed on the 18th, so i have to have the ceiling completed.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
The overhead door installers do not want ribbed metal up to the edge of the door frames due to his track and opener brackets. Most times you see the door 2x6 is exposed or painted. Since the entire inside of my building will have metal panels i didn't want the wood exposed. I had the Amish store bend some pieces to accommodate. I think it turned out really well. Ribbed panels and J-channel will go between the doors. I'm also happy with the soffit lights. I knew they would not give off much useable light, but i think they look great. I'm thinking about hanging hubcaps where the light hits the clay above the doors.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
The heater is in. It heats up quick, 38 - 62 degrees on initial fire up in about 45 minutes. It does use more fuel than i expected. In two weeks it has used over 30 gallons if my calculations and gage is correct. I keep it around 45-48 and had it kicked up to 55 two or three times for about 12 hours each time. I was hoping to go all season on one fill - that certainly isn't going to happen if I keep the heat on. I used an infrared gun during a 20 degree day on the building, inside and out, and i don't see any heat loss/transfer in the walls or roof line. It was about 2 degrees cooler above the metal ceiling, so the metal is doing a little to restrict heat to the attic, but not much as expected. The doors are insulated well at R17, but you can see from the pictures that there is loss there. There was about an 8 degree increase around the seals and in between panels.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
Lights are in 2 of the 4 bays and I am happy with the looks and the lighting. It gives off enough light, without shadowing. It's easy on the eyes with the frosted cover. The open LED style really mess with my eyes and head and these were a good choice in avoiding it.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
All the lights are in and the electric is roughed in the walls. The wall liner is all up except for the area where the bathroom will be. I still need to frame that out. I'm very happy with the fascia on the front wall under the overhead door tracks and springs. One sheet of ribbed metal would have fit between the doors, but I had to half two sheets where the openers are so it would flex enough to go under the opener.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
update on the heater - I used 65 gallons in 4 weeks. I would maintain 40 when i wasn't out there and then raise it to 50 sometimes when I was working on it.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
Working in the small garage is getting old. Time to move the C10 and the A into their new home and get the new garage done. I have to finish framing out the bathroom and a few pieces of wall liner and then i'll be completely ready to move in. We plumbed for a shower just because it was cheap to do so prior to pouring the concrete, not thinking i would ever need it. But as we were framing the bathroom my buddy mentioned that we are not getting a 36" shower through the bathroom door and we needed to get in in before finishing the framing. So i bought the shower and it will be in place. I'm sure the kids will use it. My little guy takes paper and markers out and draws in the garage, even when no one is in there. Glad to see that.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
You're getting so close now! It looks awesome! How many BTU's is you heater? It looks kind of small for that large space IMO. Maybe it's running all the time to maintain? Mine is on NG and I usually don't leave mine on all the time. I haven't tracked my usage so maybe I'd be surprised.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
Heater is 125k btu. It doesn't run that often. I timed it at 6 minute run cycles once every hour if i maintain 60. It beats being cold. Maybe once i get fully moved in i can do a better assessment on the heat.
Considering using epoxy on the floor. I have never used it before, and i worry about it peeling in the future.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
Epoxy has +'s and -'s. I personally think it's worth doing but you really need to do it before you get moved in and working in it or it's a PITA to do later. Just don't go with a smooth coating or it'll be stupid slick.

Re: Pole Frame Garage
Thanks guys, I’m happy with it.
Decision time on 2 or 4 post lift. I’d like a 4 post, but after you buy the jacks for wheel work it adds up to about twice the money as a 2 post.
