My brother in law found a wicker basket casket in his tool shed after he bought his house.

There was a logo for "Frigid Fluid Products" on it, so we tried to contact them.

We were successful. They are still in business and make embalming fluid and related equipment. They said it was a "viewing basket", and it was pretty common to have one and display your relative in it in the days before funeral homes.

Re: 1967 Chevy pickup casket

Great job! Your family may laugh about it now, but they will be glad not to have to buy & pick a casket out when the time comes.

No headlights needed to see where you're going, but I like that you can show us your tail lights when you're outta here. Great workmanship.

Not sure how I missed this thread when it originally "aired", but WOW, that is a cool idea!
Excellent craftsmanship. I wonder about the acceptability as well. Kirk, have you checked that out?

It’ll be accepted as it is. I will need an oversized vault- it’s 32” wide and a standard casket is 29”. A standard vault is 30”.

Thanks for the comments!

Re: 1967 Chevy pickup casket

I'd add a breathing hose and a string line up to the ground to dingle a bell. Just in case.

Nice work otherwise!

Make sure you put door poppers in the lid in case you need to get out. And a good actuator.

Re: 1967 Chevy pickup casket

I like that this thread came back to the surface to have a second life. I saw it the first time and admired it. Now I'm wondering about handles. Got to have handles or rails build onto it or some sort of strap system for pallbearers to handle it.

Perhaps you need to travel with the casket and with some vampire teeth so you're really ready to pose.
