I ended up with a different truck. Current truck power is in the form of a 5.3 with a 4L60E, cam and head work, around 400 hp. Runs nice!

Re: project 62
I just reread my post, duh! Must have been thinking about my Silverado when I said it's "an '02 Firebird 6.0...." Since it came from a Firebird it is 1) a 5.7 and 2) it's an aluminum motor. Sometimes my brain and my hands don't coordinate when I type. Anyway, the problem with these motors is they come at a higher price than the 4.8 and 5.3 versions. I'll PM you and we can talk a little about this motor, trans, and miscellaneous parts.
Been a while since I was in Oklahoma. I lived in the garden spot of Oklahoma (Altus) for 6 1/2 years! lol We would have to talk about delivery options.

Re: project 62
Well the lead on the 5.3 didnt end up working but a friends truck that i painted a few months back got T boned and still runs, all maintenance kept up but its a '94 and older than i was really wanting but everything is there so if i can get it cheap enough it might just be the power plant for this dude. With fuel costs being stupid and for the ok mileage that the 88-98's get i can live with that, plus they are fairly cheap to work on. So thats my toss up

Re: project 62
I think I would look for the missing parts on the 5.3 and go that route. IMO
