Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Great work Gents(and ladies if any),

Finally Finally solved my tahoe rear end and '73 brake lines issue....

Went through about four different companies with no avail to get the main brake line from the 99' Tahoe to "marry" up to the 73's brake line...

Finally someone at one of said companies recommended I go to a Local shop here in San Diego and the Gates of Heaven Opened up LOL.....

For the first time I didnt see a head being scratched or someone saying; "my computer tells me we dont have such a part" ARGH! Nope this old school pro probably with a ton of know how and experience says..."No big deal Ill have it done in two days"......I was shocked, elated, jumping up and down for Joy...ok the last part didnt happen.

These masters of the Arts of mechanic and custom are a dying breed I hope some of the young guys soak up as much knowledge from these types of folks as possible...

Pics attached of the Master piece that married together GM of 1973 and GM of 1999.....Oh and I mocked up a mid eighties camaro steering column on my 61 cab....Ill be searching on Forum to see how some of you mounted later model columns to 60-66 cabs....(ANY INFO would be appreiciate)

Keep up the great work and progress!!!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Mounted a handbrake boot that I felt lucky to score. I had to make a lot of calls to find it. It resulted in an impressive improvement in lowering interior noise and keeping heat and smell out. It used to just pour in from the open hole.

My buddy Chip came up in his cool old wagon and installed a new rag joint. Chip is a wealth of know how and ability on old cars and trucks. The 48 year old original rag joint was really shot and a little horrifying to look at considering how many miles I recently put on it. Easy 50% improvement in steering efficiency. New front shocks and an oil filter conversion completed the day. It was 110 here in Scottsdale. Hot day to be under the truck for 5 hours. Tomorrow it gets a tune-up and some new parts on the top end.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Slapped some paint on her Wednesday in hopes of driving it in the Fair Parade today. Performed tune-up, went to set timing and found my fuel pump was leaking
Got a fuel pump today, ran(drove the grocery getter) home on lunch and replaced fuel pump, changed oil--3 gallons of gas/oil in the crankcase, and set timing. She runs SO much better now!

I gotta tell you, seeing all you guys working on your stuff got me motivated, you guys ROCK!

Opened the hood to change my header gaskets and saw how much work it was going to be and closed the hood again. I guess I will wait until winter.

if you use orange RTV around the ports before u install the gaskets they never leak apply enough to fill out uneven parts. I drag race and that's what we do even on the flange g
gaskets

Finished up the disc conversion on my 66. Took a lot longer than expected, but it is my dd, so that made it tougher.

Not so much a "do to" as it is a "do with". Last night I got to use it as a picnic table for the BBQ we had at the shop-

We ended up with like a dozen cars/trucks showing up!

Sometimes you just gotta

Sack up! Eat that elephant one bite at a time.

Today and yesterday I did nothing but drive my truck to the hardware store. It was great! Sadly the fun was interrupted several times by arriving at my destinations. And I swapped struts on the wife's car. Tore the end of my middle finger off. I hate that car. My truck never tore anything off of me but a frown.

Well, and my shirt. Once. But no one needs to know about that.

She's a right feisty little vixen.
