Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
It's a good news, bad news thing.
Good news. Brought something home from vacation. It's a 6.0L and a 4L80E. It's amazing how cheep things are once you get out of California. Bad news. When I got back, my Suburban was supposed to be out of the paint shop. He has not touched it any further. Then I'm told, "I need $9400.00 more or I won't finish it". I am already into it for over $5000.00 and supposed to pay $2500.00 more. So, it came home. The outside looks close to done, inside needs work. Anybody know a good reasonable painter in the San Bernardino area? |

I have the motor cover about done. I also have a new pan for the electric fans to install also.
Cover will go back to shop on Monday to have the front piece weld on it. Drove the truck this morning and it ran fine didn't notice any heat build up at all and temp gauge read just fine.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I worked on getting the interior floor cleaned out today & getting it ready to install the sound deader, new carpet and new seatbelts. The seat is at the upholstery shop getting done. It's going to look great after it's all done. I set the carpet in there temporary just to see how it's going look.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
Been a while since I've posted on here. But I got it back on the road and put it right to work. I can't say no to free firewood, especially if all I have to do is drive out my drive way and drive onto my next door neighbors property... I was in process of trying to find an affordable material for heat/sound deadener, when I was at the local 99¢ store I found these windshield sun reflectors for $1.27 a piece. Foil on one side foam the other. Bought 5. I stopped by hardware store on way home to pick up roll of aluminum foil tape for ten bux. I spray adhesive the shields back to back so foil would be exposed on both sides, and turned them into panels. I used some good stubble-sided dicky tape in the contours and corners so as not to let them lift. Then foil sealed all sides. I was about four square feet short so picked up a few more to finish the job. Turned out far better than I had predicted, also far cheaper...(I need all the gas money I can get!) I fully insulated the floor pan from firewall to gas tank for about $20! Also I got the low pile carpet for free from a friend. I'm no carpet installer, and I accept that. But it will get me by until I can afford better. It definetly keeps the cab cooler and quieter, even with my "super" 40's! Now I can actually hear my stereo.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I got my seat back from the upholstery shop yesterday and I set it in the truck temporary just to see how great it's going look. I ordered the seat cover from Seatz out of Anaheim, CA & had a local upholstery shop put the new cover on & installed new foam. I also included a before pic.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II
I did a nice, easy maintenance afternoon where I changed the oil, put on a new lower radiator hose, lubed/greased the front end, rotated the 2 front tires and changed out the power steering fluid and did a little underhood clean and tidy stuff. Nothing too serious.....and, well, it was actually last weekend....LOL
(note: still haven't resolved the increased power steering 'whine' tho'....) All Good Coley
