Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I did a lot last week. First I made it to the inspection station and passed. I had the muffler guys clean up my exhaust system that has 2/ 1/2" glass packs from the hooker headers, and they added two more 18 glass packs - 2 1/2" id at the end of the tail pipe and now it sounds great.
I installed the leather electric bucket seats I bought in CA and they fit me!!
I installed front gabreil shocks and the front end settled down!
I now have 70 miles on the new 454 and I am learning how to drive a 57!
life is good!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Just took some pics to help pass the time until I have the $$$ I need for the brake drums and front bearings. Then we'll finally be able to put everything on and I can drive this thing for the first time. The drums you see stacked in the background were shot when I tried to have them turned. The bed is hiding on the other side of the cab while I clean up the rear part of the frame...

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

cut the front floor from the seat riser to the toeboard out. I could have just patched it but it will look cleaner this way. The plan is to make a frame out of fabracated sills from 12 guage and 1" square tubing.I made a fixture for the sills earlier this week. and today I finnished up a fixture that uses some holes in the fire wall and has A bolt thet contacts the frame on both sides. That way I will be able to adjust each sideof the cab when I weld the floor sills to the cab. I will post some pics later.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Made up some grounding cables. NAPA wanted $15 each (inc. tax) for two cables. I rummaged around in my electical connector box and found some battery cable ends, went up into the garage attic and got an old cable with a bad end. Made up these two, short is for bed to frame at the rear next to the rear sill mount, other will run from the battery ground bolt behind the box to the frame near the rear shackle. Will probably add a third from the front clip light ground to the frame too.

Nice work Orrie, so many folks underestimate the importance of good ground cables and ground points. They end up chasing electrical gremlins for a long time.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

I started to wash my 53 & 59 today. About 10 minuets into it. I heard what I thought was an IED go off, and ran for cover. My neighbor managed to engage all his airbags in his new 2012 Mercedes-Benz S350 at once. He was trying to hard wire an Xbox 360. I has to stop and come inside. I didn't want them to see me laughing

Did you sneak a photo?? Thats going to be an expensive fix. I don't know squat about Xbox's but aren't they for the living room TV or was he putting one in the back seat to entertain his kids?

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

well got busy yesterday on stripping her down some more, removed the cab and box and transmission , just have to get the frame on jack stands and start stripping her down to a bare frame so i can start mocking up my 4 link setup and my ride height. I think my frame height is going to be around 47" to the bottom of the frame rail off the ground with 44's so should be nice and low and mean looking when its done! heres some more pics for all of you

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Massive garage organizational frenzy this weekend to get stuff ready for a garage sale and get some of the truck stuff off the floor and on shelves. This week is clean the bolts, screws etc for the door hinges and latches and get them installed, tired of messing with them every time I get into the parts box. Too hot for body work or paint, its 11 pm and still 94.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

Installed new shocks ( all 4) and fitted a new bench seat (? 3rd row). Made it work with original brackets. Now that I have that all worked out its off to the upholstery shop ( when I find one that doesn't want a arm and leg)

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?

This weekend was a "preparation weekend" due to the car show.

Cleaned and painted the steering box, master cylinder bracket, rear axle cover bolts, and pedal brackets. I re-flarred a few of the brake lines and installed them and also put in my Ignitier II module into the distributor and picked up a new cap.

I am heading home on Wednesday night. The goal is to finish the rear end completely (just install the rear end cover and bolts), finish and bleed the brakes, and then work on getting this thing started up.

The end is near.
