Thanks Keith, I can't wait to get the carbs and air cleaners on.

Dan it was good to see you again, and thanks for your help, it was much appreciated!

When he gets the carbs and breathers on there it will be real eye candy won't it? As my nephew says "it's the berries". I think that is good.

Re: Good start to a project...

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I had this vision for this truck since I saw it for sale on Craigslist. I love having trucks that show some character on the body, sit right, and are super reliable. I don't like having something I can't drive...anywhere. Plus I like to add some detail in some areas.

I took Thursday and Friday off work this next week so I can get some work done, so I'll update then.

Re: Good start to a project...

A few quick pics. Almost done, just need to put the PS pump on, get some vacuum caps for the carbs, and tweak a few pieces on the throttle linkage. It's not getting full throttle right now. you can see in the one pic the nice bracket my buddy made to mount the bell crank off of.

I'll get more pics of the linkage when it's finished. Sorry for all the crappy cell phone pics, I lost my nice camara in the divorce!

Gonna be interesting to hear how it runs! You are making me have this crazy thought about leaving the 6 banger in my '68!

I hope I don't pull my hair out getting the tuneup right, this is my first time monkeying with multiple carbs...and my last with Monojets. The throttle blades working perpendicular to the throttle rod is a pretty big PITA! This thing would have been running two weeks ago if it wasn't for the linkage and fuel lines.

But I'll keep you posted!

Re: Good start to a project...

Multi carb'd engines are just plain cool. whether it be a flathead ford, small block chevy or a straight 6. One of the prettiest engines out there IMO.

That's awesome Chris, I'm really digging it!! It looks great and a rodded up 6 sounds mean, they sound like they are gonna eat your children.

Re: Good start to a project...

As promised, here are the throttle linkage pics, I'm thinking I'll end up making a new rod that runs from the pedal to the bellcrank, but this will work for a bit. The truck is running, just trying to work out a few small bugs (like my starter giving up), should be able to test drive it this week.

I needed to take a break from the engine for a day, so yesterday I got my new wheel in and my $11 overstock.com seat cover in.

Well, I'm tired and burnt out, and the truck fund is empty, so I'll drive it this summer then this winter I'll bodywork the bed, and fill the sidemarkers, and have my buddy faux-tina the bed so it matches. Then I'll replace the open 4.11's for a posi with 3.42's and do a rocking, but hidden stereo system for those long road trips.

Re: Good start to a project...

well hopefully by the time the 2015 rolls around I will be close to firing it... I have alot of money to spend on it yet and it needs to go back to the body shop to have a little more rust repair done before I can really start rolling... I am hoping to get it to the body shop in the next week or so...
