I have a 69 swb fleetside that I accidentally bought on ebay. It needs some work, but I was wondering if I would be better selling as is or getting the body straight and getting rid of the rust areas. Sounds like you have some exeperience selling these trucks, so what do you think?

Wow. How do you accidentally buy on ebay?? Just from what little info you gave ---my first instinct is not to put a dime in it and sell it. --Although if you have welding and body working skills you could replace the rusted sections and get higher pay back. I don't know what condition pickup you have or even if you like this style. To many the 67 short fleet is desireable for a customized pickup because of no side marker lights Be careful buying and replacing items because you can Quickly have more into it than you can get out.What do YOU REALLY WANT to do?

How do you accidentally buy a truck on ebay? You bid $510 when the bid is $500 with 2 or 3 days to go and no one else bids on it .

The only part of the truck that is in really bad shape is the drivers side bedside. It needs cab corners, rockers and the bottom of the front fenders have some rot. Other than that the body is pretty straight. It didn't come with a motor, transmission, tailgate, or a seat, but the guy did throw in 2 extra doors in really good shape. A friend of mine gave me a running 250 that he pulled from his truck, and I am sure I could rustle up a 3 speed tranny somewhere.

I was just thinking if I could put $500 in it to get it driveable and repair the rust that I might be able to get a couple grand out of it and make $1000 off of it. Maybe that's not realistic, but that's why I was asking.

only had a short time to work on the 70 this weekend. Picked up my wheels after they installed larger tires. Havent installed on pickup yet. Pulled the transmission and replaced the front pump seal, gaskets, o-ring and bushing. Reinstalled the transmission,part way. When I installed the drain plug, the nut came loose on the inside of the pan-- now it won't come out or go in. Took the f*^k(*% pan off and welded nut back on. New gasket and filter and reinstalled the pan. I'll finish up the install later this week.

Well I got side tracked for a while but it was worth it I think. Found a 69 Z28 that has sat since 1980. the car is number matching and only has 7,864 miles on it. It was vandalized and had all the glass broke out that year and has sat outside in the weather all that time, so it has issues, BUT it no in my garage. Now I'm back working on the 70 project. Got the trany in and no leaks. Got my bed parts back so I will be starting on that soon.

I wouldn't mind finding me a matching numbers '69 Camaro and with such low miles on it and that the person doesn't want a fortune for. That's a nice truck. Got any pics of the Camaro?

I would like to clean it up some before showing to much. Hey that just reminded me of that picture of the chevy truck pulling the trailer with the camaro on it.

Thanks for the link. I wouldn't mind finding a '69 Camaro that looked like that. I would just make it road-worthy and drive it looking like it is.

I'm not telling what it cost. I will tell you that I there was a story about his car being out there some where. The owner had passed away in 1980. I have been hunting for this car for years. Found it and made an offer to the family and they said ,Hell no. Not for sale. I raised my offer to what was kinda high for a car in this condition. A year later (two weeks ago ) THEY called me and said OK. So --people were happy on both sides, and that's what makes it a GOOD deal.

I don't know if it's a lottery find or a money pit. It's cool that it's got under 8,000 miles, but it sat out in the weather untouched all these years. It would be different if it was inside and looked like factory new. The value would be like lottery money. But to make it right-- it would be a total tear down--derust, clean restore or replace. Then it's just another restored car. Miles don't matter. This would cost more then the cars worth. Think I'll sit on it awhile.

Long day today.
Got the bed spotwelded back together. I put a metal floor in and got some paint on it. Fenders are still in primer. Trying to get them blocked out good to make sure my patch wont show with the black paint.
