First time outside in 4 months since beginning the LS swap, last shot before reinstalling the hood.

Re: "Woodson" - New to me 1977 Silverado C10

Many people didn't understand my vision when I purchased Woodson but I knew exactly what I wanted from the very beginning.. I had admired a particular photoshop rendering that was the spark for my inspiration. I reached out to N2TRUX who owned the rendering and had been considering transforming his 77 Cheyenne. Without hesitation he gave me his blessings to inherit his rendering as my very own and encouraged me to proceed with my build. With a completed rendering in hand of my very own now others can also see my vision of exactly what I have in mind. This rendering represents the finished product once the Woodson transformation is complete.

Phase 1: LS Swap almost complete
Phase 2: New paint and Interior beginning soon
Phase 3: New wheels and stereo systems completes the transformation

Its a 3M product that was made specifically for automotive applications. Unfortunately its no longer available, so Mike has to improvise.

I parted out a 73 suburban with the estate package (exterior woodgrain). I still have the estate emblems you should put some on your truck

Exactly what Ken said.... the truck is in need of a new paint job and my plan was to repaint the truck gloss black and install new woodgrain. As Ken stated, the 3M woodgrain product is no longer available and I haven't been able to find anything to my satisfaction that I'm comfortable installing as a replacement. As a consequence I'm entertaining other paint colors and options for the truck because a paint job is definitely needed in the near future. As much as I hate it, the woodgrain may no longer be in the plans.

I bet the companies that do the stick on graphics for cars and trucks could scan and recreate that with no problem.

Re: "Woodson" - New to me 1977 Silverado C10

3m recommended me to one of their local preferred vinyl wrap installers here in the Dallas area and I've had several conversations with them. They can duplicate the pattern with ease, the issue is the longevity of the vinyl wrap after it's installed. They informed me that automotive vinyl wraps are not meant to be permanent installs. The vinyl wrap will fade and need to be replaced every 4/5 years. I would have something more permanent and durable, I cant justify paying money to keep replacing the woodgrain every few years.

Mike, can you PM me your contact from 3M? I need to do some work to my '75, and was counting on using the 3M woodgrain to replace my original...this bums me out. Perhaps we can find a way to convince them to do a limited run if we have a few who need the product.

Have you seen the JC Whitney vinyl wood grain?

http://www.jcwhitney.com/spartan-woo...?filterid=u0j1

I bought a roll and it seems pretty heavy duty although I haven't used it yet.

Must admit, this is the first time I've seen this product. Curious to find out more about it, might be the answer to my problems. Thanks for the info

That 3M woodgrain product used to be produced at the 3M plan in Nevada, MO where I'm from. There was a time years ago when all you had to do was ask somebody and you'd have as much as you wanted! I wish I had stocked up.

I just spoke with the gentleman again to see if they have anything new since we last spoke and unfortunately he told me they don't. He just informed me that the closest thing they have would be their 3M DI-NOC Architectural Series vinyl. He said it has the look and feel that I want but it WILL NOT hold up to the outdoor elements if installed on the exterior of a vehicle.
