Re: Another LSx/4L60e Swap
I remember that there were a fer questions about about the Airbox mod. hope this helps. The circles are where I drilled for the mounting 'feet, the the vertical box is where i trimmed the vertical mount. The large hole I mentioned earlier was for the airbox drain - fact is it's solid, not a drain at all

Re: Another LSx/4L60e Swap
I also wanted a door-style fillier cap to replace the old one that connected straight to the side of the bed. I found one at a salvage yard in Birmingham. The best part was the price - $5 for the door, section of bedside, fillerneck cap and hoses

Re: Another LSx/4L60e Swap
Thanks! I almost gave up because I couldn't find anything that would work. I was coming back through Birmingham and stopped at a u-pull. I checked for an hour with no luck and as i was walking out they wire lifting the donor vehicle in. Before I could get my tools there were two other guys ripping it apart.

Re: Another LSx/4L60e Swap
Not much of an update, but the bodywork on the bed is done. First coat of 2k got sprayed and sanded. Looks like crap in the pic, but it's still wet. One more coat of primer tonight...

Re: Another LSx/4L60e Swap
I finally finished the paint on the cab last night. What I estimated to be two days turned into 2+ weeks. My son decided on a 2006 factory GM color - silver metallic. Planning for a low speed test drive tomorrow.

Re: Another LSx/4L60e Swap
Getting close. Doords are fitted and wired up and work great. The low speed test drive worked out well, the electronic speedometer works, and not a single leak. Glass man comes today.

Re: Another LSx/4L60e Swap
Thanks - here is a shot at the side. I have to claim rookie status on the paint job, but it looks ok at 10 feet away.

Re: Another LSx/4L60e Swap
Took the trucks to a show on Saturday - trying to get as much road time on the 4.8 as possible. Got the bed Line-X'd, front end aligned, tires re-balanced and a/c serviced. We've had zero problems with the truck so far - cruises 70mph @1800 rpm in overdrive. Very quiet inside and lots of fun to drive. Need to finish the hood and a few interior issues and we'll call it done.
