Re: 68 GMC 4x4 Suburban build up

[QUOTE=70BLAZERX2;4082353]I just put the dana 60 dually front and a 14bolt dually rear under a 69 K/20 frame and built this truck.

The front end was a bolt in.

Nice truck man!

Re: 68 GMC 4x4 Suburban build up

cool build i like the buckets! you need to weld a bracket to the back so the arm rest/seat back doesnt flip all the way back... dont know if you thought about it or not...

Looks like yours is almost a twin to my recently purchased 68 Chevy 4X4 burb.
Nice truck!

Re: 68 GMC 4x4 Suburban build up

Got it loaded up and just about in the driveway... That might not seem like too big of a deal but it was parked on the side of a huge hill no brakes, no winch, giant burb... Got it done though! Feels good to have it home... Now to get the 454/th400/np205 over here and get this thing going...

Well if you want a solid runner with good torque that runs on it's side. Keep the TBI. If you want to make some power, heads, cam, intake and a carb.

I'm leaning towards the TBI,

It will be awhile before I need to decide anyway though. I got the captnfab parts to put the hydroboost setup on and will do so next week when I recover from surgery

Re: 68 GMC 4x4 Suburban build up

Been trying to track down a 14bolt full floater that isn't $600

Put a power brake booster on it and been tightening up some loose ends as I am going to get it running/driving as is with the current 327

Also noticed the hard brake line is busted so I am ordering a all new set of stainless lines and extended stainless steel lines from Inline Tube next week and replacing the sending unit in the gas tank.

Something that concerns me is the clutch won't return maybe the pressure plate is stuck from sitting? All the return springs, etc are hooked up

On the clutch do you mean that the pedal is on the floor? The pressure plate doesn't normally stick unless it goes over center. The clutch disk is what sticks from sitting and in that case it just won't release when you push the pedal down. The pedal still works as it should.

Does it actually release though? Can you have someone roll the truck with the trans in gear and the clutch pushed in? Are you sure all of the linkage is connected? It sounds like the linkage might be disconnected somewhere.

Re: 68 GMC 4x4 Suburban build up

Kalle, I have a 14 bolt FF that is already set up for a '68 burb.

I'd make you a deal on it if you want to make a trip down to SoCal.

What gear ratio and where in SoCal? I will probably take you up on that! We visit family in San Diego a few times a year

LockDoc
yes it releases, It is not in a spot to be rolled right now, especially without the brakes working lol.

It was disconnected and I found where and reconnected it. I will have to look into it more and deal with getting the brakes working first

Re: 68 GMC 4x4 Suburban build up

I don't know the gear ratio, but I could pull the cover off and figure out.

I am in the Temecula area just off Winchester Rd on I-15.
