It looks so deep, it appears to a layer off water on it. The hard part is telling people not to touch it.

There is two coats of Kandy and three coats of clear, then wet sanded and polished. I will try and take a better photo to show it off. I really is impressive, and a very simple technique.

Looks like "work completed" to me. Or "no work necessary." What are your plans here?

Ebony stain over oak. I was aiming for a worn black paint look. After the tenth coat of poly and fine sanding, I realized my satin stain was going to come out glossy

Re: Post your Bed Wood/Metal - Customized/Modified or Stock

I'm thinking of getting some cedar or quited maple and burning it with a torch, wire brushing it, then clear coating it. I have seen this done on multiple home improvement shows, I just dont know what they call it, and what wood would work best.

You would want a wood that has defined hard and soft grain. Like pine, maybe fir.

Anybody used Mesquite for their beds?

Re: Post your Bed Wood/Metal - Customized/Modified or Stock

Here's mine. I saw an earlier post where they shot a one piece bed deck with Arma Coating, but mines a little different. When I got the truck the oak bed was weathered on top, but still beautiful underneath. The truck sat outside with the PO and will with us too. The boards were just starting to cup and I didn't want to run then through a planer and clear coat them as we will be using this truck as a truck. I took the bed apart and individually shot each board with Line-X and reassembled using the stainless rails and hardware I repolished. Turned out great!

There Is a guy on here that used aluminium bleacher planks. Just can't think of the name. Hopefully someone chimes in. It is a shame it's not in here. It is absolutely awesome

My favorite is still Gapp's anodized aluminum bleacher boards. So industrial looking and clean. What a great idea!
