Re: Post your 81-87 pics
Picked this '81 up in May. Everything was original except the engine/tranny, and the black stripe that was added to the hood/fenders. It was originally an inline 6 with a 3 on the tree and the PO converted it to a 350/350 automatic. The cam in the 350 was missing an exhaust lobe so I put a 408 small block and TCI 350 tranny in it. Finally back on the road today after the engine/tranny swap and suspension, wheels, and tires. One piece rear window going in tomorrow. Original un-touched body panels, this thing is straight!! Was originally a Georgia truck until about two years ago. I bought it in Michigan when I was working at Roush from a co-worker and brought it over into Ontario. This will stay pretty much how it is for a daily driver. I have two projects back home to get a little more crazy with. One is a rolling chassis '80 shortbed stepside on airbags and there's also an '86 fleetside shortbed being converted to an '87 4.3L TBI V6. Hope you enjoy the pics.. not bad for strugglin through my 4th year of university if I say so myself.

Re: Post your 81-87 pics
Figured I'd post a couple pics of "Big White" (again). It's a 1990 model, but I figure that you guys are okay with that. Anyway, I picked it up with only 60K miles on the clock, so it's in pretty good condition. It's got a TBI 454 w/ SM465 and NP205, Dana 60 front and Dana 70 rear. It's a Silverado, so it has power windows, locks, tilt, etc.

Re: Post your 81-87 pics
I guess it could be worse, but I get around 9-10 MPG. I usually ride my Harley everywhere though and I get close to 50 on that. Anyway, right now, I'm looking at swapping in a C9 Caterpillar or similar (C7, 3126, or 3116) turbo diesel with a 13 speed Roadranger overdrive. There are a lot of options with this. I had access to an old detroit diesel and direct drive 10 speed, but after doing the research on it, at 2300lbs, it was just too big. "Worst case scenero" is I drop a Cummins 6Bt and 6 speed in it. They're pretty easy to find and not too much money compiaratively.

Re: Post your 81-87 pics
I take it, that the truck lives in a storage building? If so, then it is out of your mind, which becomes your nemisis. The project has to be under foot to truly get attention. I know, I have three under foot and I walk around them every day---it doesn't mean that I am working on them though.

Re: Post your 81-87 pics
IS that the sport modle with the painted bumper and stripes? That would be a nice one to fix and keep in that color set up. Good luck

Re: Post your 81-87 pics
My dad just bought this 83 last week. My 17 yr. old brother is driving it. He has painted the wheels silver, removed the fog lights, splash guards, front liscense plate, and window stickers since these pictures. I'll get some updated pics later.
