Re: update on the plastic glovebox
I need to start over with another manufacturer. The one I originally worked through this with started to bend me over AFTER I signed off the original PO which was at their price and order quantities

Re: update on the plastic glovebox
Thats to bad. Sometimes manufactures will bid low to get the order and then try to stick you with higher prices once you get into the project thinking you won't back out. Good Luck with your next manufacturer.

Re: update on the plastic glovebox
I just hate that S&%t!! You go thru all that work to get something going, and then at the last minute they want to toss a monkey wrench in to see what you will do. Good luck with the next attempt! Jeff.

Re: update on the plastic glovebox
I should have stuck with a manufacturer I knew well. The rub is that the mfgs. with ties in the industry will oftentimes "Back door" you to try to make a few extra bucks. The manufacturer I worked on this with had all the samples, a complete dash, two glovebox doors, etc. They quoted me a price and a minimum order of 800pcs. of each type. I signed off on that and didn't hear from them for two months believing they were "In process". I finally called and they wanted to raise the minimum order to 1000 of each; I agreed. Another month went by and I called for a status. They e-mailed me and said they wanted: 2000 pcs. of each type, pre-payment without a sample, and an additional $2.00 for ea. pc. That was the end of talking with them.

Re: update on the plastic glovebox
It was obvious they did not want your business. The fact they kept raising the bar tells me they were not interested in your business. To bad they were not up front from the very beginning.

Re: update on the plastic glovebox
My guess is that they thought they could find their own market for the part after selling me the initial order.....then found out is was for a limited market

If you need any help with this let me know.
Also sounds like you need to patent this idea first. |

Re: update on the plastic glovebox
Since these are dead, I guess I will mention that I know where to get ABS glove boxes. They are 6.5 inches deep and about $35. They are apart of a A/C conversion kit and can be bought seperately. I have a couple coming.

Re: update on the plastic glovebox
Mike- ABS tends to be brittle. I'd be interested to see what's done on those to add support to the back of the box to keep from cracking the flange. That's why I thought Polypropylene was a more suitable material for this application.

Re: update on the plastic glovebox
Depends on the quality of ABS. I have used some good stuff and seen crap. Anyways, I will know better when they come in.
