Re: 66 slammed hearse
The burban will be roadworthy friday night, with a little help from Captainfab and Runninlo. The captain fronted my the steering parts I needed for the dash out of D&D, I will also add that the PS conversion plate he builds is a very nice piece. Runninlo hooked me up with a crossmember drop kit to get me a little lower in the front, and will be loaded into my plasmacam machine by the time you all read this. My metal supplier called tonight and my back window filler panels are done and will be at the shop when I get home off the road. I need to start a thread called wheres KD? Greetings from the Top Stop in rainy Roosevelt Utah, my home for the next 12 hours. Sunday will be picture day, and there will be a bunch of them.

Re: 66 slammed hearse
Burb is looking good. Did I read right that you were able to buy 6 lug drop spindles? I'd appreciate any info on some if u know where I can get some.
Thanks.

Re: 66 slammed hearse
Yep, 6 lug rotors 1 1/4 thick on '71 up 2 1/2 drop spindles. The rotors are CPP and cost about $175 for the pair. The spindles are a chassis tech part, I got mine off ebay for under $200 from a guy called pricebusterchris. He was great to work with and called me to make sure I was getting the right parts. I had to change all 4 ball joints to 73-87 style and also had to change my steering rack to 73-87 too. I used the stock manual steering box, which the rack fits. I also had to drill two 3/8 holes in the passenger side frame rail for the newer idler arm. It took about 10 mins to change the rack out, once I finally had the parts. Let me know if you need more info, I can post it for you.

Re: 66 slammed hearse
Finally, I drove the burban tonight! It steers, stops, and moves under its own power. only when around the block and down the street and back, but she run like a top and drove pretty good for just being lowered. It needs a serious alignment job and the brakes still are not what they should be, but now I can be motivated to the light at the end of the tunnel. No pictures yet, you have all seen my brake booster.

Re: 66 slammed hearse
Thanks grease, I have got about 50 miles on this thing now. I had to do a hillbilly alignment job today, It was way out. also rechecked the wheel bearings and torqued them up a bit more. Got new calipers for the front finally (stupid parts house). I changed the rear bumper out, installed my filer panels in the back windows, put the sliders back in the front, changed the winshield (and broke it) glass isnt my strong point. I also found out the hard way that I am going to need a c notch in the rear. My 5" coils are riding on the bumpstops. I wish classic parts would add in that lil tidbit of info before you buy. I would have bought the notch the same time as the coils if I had known. I will get all the pics I keep promising up tomarrow.
